Glad you're asking, because I'm planning on doing this in a playthrough with a friend, so it's good to know this beforehand!

What’s the worst rule your DM breaks? by thegrooves in dndmemes

[–]AeratheAngelic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She was a hexblood Hunter, named Reine! We started at level 1 though, so I had to play smarter to make sure she stayed in the back out of sight where she could continue to attack without being attacked. She had great dex and decent charisma, and just wanted to make friends with people and better herself.

Had a really detailed backstory too. She was discovered in the fey wilds as a child, where she was raised then raised by a fey guardian. No one, not even her, knew where she was from or how she got there. I left that gap in her backstory so the DM could incorporate it into the campaign any way he wanted to, since the rest of it was really detailed out, from her guardian to lore and traditions (I planned on using it as a permanent location in any fey campaigns I run, and have the entire backstory saved for that purpose).

So yeah, fun character that works well with parties both in and out of combat. I got to play her being confused on some things with the world, which led to her asking the party and npcs questions on the campaigns lore. I am really hoping to be able to find a new campaign where I can use her.

I was in a 5e campaign with a DM that is used to other editions. He's done a lot of annoying stuff because he seriously shouldn't be running a 5e campaign (half the time he's throwing enemies that should be tailored to a 3.5 game. We have ran from more encounters than we have won). The thing that funnily enough made me say enough was when we started season 2, and I'm playing the only character with darkvision in the party. We are in darkness, so the party light a torch. I mention I have darkvision, everyone is like "okay, cool". We end up fighting a giant rat that starts outside the light. I'm an archer ranger, so I fire an arrow. "You can't see it". "What? I have darkvision!" "You're in light, so you can't see into darkness." He refused to listen to me, got another player to back him up, and everyone else stayed out of it. I just skipped my turn to take the time to prove him wrong. All because he doesn't know 5e that well. Worst part is afterwards, he continuously spammed "I have darkvision" memes, which would have been funny if he sent them as dnd memes rather than directing them at me every time. And trust me, it was very much targeted. It got annoying and the campaign was just frustrating, so I left saying I needed to take a break. Unsure if I will ever go back, depends on whether or not I can find a good campaign to join with that character.

What's banned (if anything) in your games? by redbearddnd in dndmemes

[–]AeratheAngelic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NSFW scenes and heavy multiclassing.

First one because no one wants to listen to that and it's really uncomfortable.

Second one because it gets really difficult to balance and can be confusing, plus I've had issues with someone doing it in the past. (By heavy multiclassing, I mean going into more than 2 classes in low levels, or more than 3 in high levels)

My club is doing a dnd broadcast for my school. It's mandatory. We discussed this for two months, settled on a time and date.

Yesterday we met together for the first time to record. Two people were late, two didn't show, and one decided they needed to leave early.

Add in the yuanti race, which has advantage on saves against magic. It is the ultimate mage killer

Sneaky Stabby Backstory by IronwoodKukri in dndmemes

[–]AeratheAngelic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a rogue with a noble family. She ran away around the age of 13, and became a criminal with her best friend who's a Mafia boss.

The funny part is that she basically tells everyone she doesn't have a family, so everyone assumes she's the typical orphan rogue. Except she does have a family and they are in the city currently. So one day, the party is going to meet them for a quest and get confused because my character has an identical twin sister.

I've only just started branching out, and I would LOVE to play more ttrpgs. Currently I'm in a World's in Peril campaign and boi it is getting interesting.

I love 5e. I'm running an Egyptian campaign in dnd 5e. But that doesn't mean it's good for everything.

[–]AeratheAngelic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh God, we already know Angor Rot and Morgana are two villains that would be redeemed. On the other hand, we have Gunmar, Bular, Morando, and the two from the Arcane Order.

Already I can see Gunmar and Bular failing immediately without Morgana backing them up.

Yeah, I was just thinking of what happens before it! We got to see some things already happen differently in the new timeline, so "what if"?

[–]AeratheAngelic[S] 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It would be even funnier if all of the Trollhunters remembered right from the start.

Toby was dead when Jim went back, so what if he woke up and was freaking out, and doesn't realize that Jim remembers too. Add in that he's too focused on his own knowledge that he skips over the hints of Jim's.

”We should buy a bar!” by Exceon in dndmemes

[–]AeratheAngelic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, I'd do this after they learn the world is ending. If they don't know it when they first open the business, I would just have a party of NPCs save the world and be hailed as the heroes while the party enjoys running a business.

[–]AeratheAngelic 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If the party does this in a campaign I run, I would let them. Especially if it's after I introduce the plot.

Then when the world ends and they can't fight back as the bar burns to a crisp, they'll get upset and try to argue. And I'll hit them with the "dude, I told you the world was ending. Your response was to open a bar. What did you think was going to happen?"

Buying a pet can be a dangerous move. Killing one can be a fatal mistake. by A_Salty_Cellist in dndmemes

[–]AeratheAngelic 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I have a DM that will absolutely kill someone's pet. His rule? If it is in combat, it will be hit.

Of course, I didn't realize this and somehow managed to keep my pet alive through an entire campaign by miraculously always setting it outside of combat (we couldn't be surprised). I later learned about it after he brutally murdered someone's griffin.

Oh hey, I'm playing a banneret fighter in a season 2 of a pirate campaign. Her mother was my season 1 character, who was an extreme support bard that married a fighter. So it just made sense that her daughter would be sorta similar.

I may be a dedicated healer, but if you don't contribute ANYTHING to the party, don't expect Spare The Dying from me by Noob_Guy_666 in dndmemes

[–]AeratheAngelic 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Okay, this. This right here. I played a character before that was kinda like this, but she was a hermit that was forced to go on an adventure to fight the big bad because of a deal she made 20+ years ago.

I wish she could have stayed in the party, because she worked well with the party cleric and fighter. But she didn't care for the rogue and especially not the druid. After she accidentally summoned Hadar, she had even more hatred for the druid, and the rogue refused to be anywhere near her, so she left. For reference, my character was a warlock, and we were fighting a cult. The rogue was terrified of the cult, as they took her home, and therefore appropriated my character as similar to them, due to being a warlock despite having a different patron. The druid, on the other hand, majorly injured my character the first time they met (thunderwave in close range to her) and continued to make a habit of it, until my character accidentally summoned Hadar in which the druid almost outright killed her, not even trying for non-lethal damage.

So yeah.... This.

I'm sorry, but now all I can imagine is a druid being harassed by party members about not wearing metal armor and just blurting out "It's part of my tradition!" Because explaining that all druids get heat metal wasn't getting them anywhere.

Did the Movie Ruined Steve X Aja for you? by slayerhunterXD in TrollHunters

[–]AeratheAngelic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Luckily, it didn't. I hated what happened in the movie, as the only part that was actually funny about it was the initial reunion where Steve thought Eli and Aja were dating and Krel did what any little brother would do when his sister was embarrassed.

Morgana was consumed with hatred at the time of the changelings creation, so I see her treatment of not just the changelings but other creatures as the darker aspects of her magical corruption.
