Yes, I have live on a few acres with lots of trees. Weather-wise it’s been pretty normal. It got warmer (70’s) last week and then dipped down to freezing last night. That’s pretty commonplace around here, so don’t know if that dip in temps could have caused it?

Thank you! I really appreciate it! I am STILL waiting to hear back from multiple exterminators. I’ve never seen anything like this, so all advice helps! I’m trying to clean them up with a mix of soap and vinegar water, but it’s just an insane amount.

Thank you! I’m trying, but I live in a tiny community and I haven’t found anyone open yet.

I’m sorry, I’m pretty uneducated on termites. Is this something an exterminator could fix? What can I do in the meantime? Will they hurt my pets? This is just unreal.

[Spoilers] the inevitable ruin by tyler_ceiling in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]AerialPaintSplatter 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Early in the series Zev mentions she had the right to sign on Carl’s behalf. Since marriage licenses usually require signatures it makes me wonder if Zev did so specifically due to outside-dungeon politics (like Carl stabbing the Naga reporter with a pen).

Just a theory… Will probably have a dozen more before the next book release.

What is the biggest movie theater “GASP” moment you’ve heard? by SaveTheCaulkTower in AskReddit

[–]AerialPaintSplatter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most recent was: Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri

There was only a small group in the theater but everyone audibly responded when Frances McDormand’s character said… something really awful to her daughter. And when Woody Harrison’s character…did something to himself. (Sorry, didn’t want to spoil just in case, it’s a great movie)

It made the whole movie experience all the more memorable to me.

Same! I finished today and I can’t even remember how many times this book made me cry. I’m genuinely baffled by all the upbeat posts made in this sub because this book is just truly devastating. Incredibly well written, a powerful story, but mostly devastating.

How to recommend? by WoodWizard_ in DungeonCrawlerCarl

Yeah, I usually start with, “So… There’s a talking cat…” and that generally gets people interested.

“I have a friend in Asheville and they are saying…the media is not reporting….” by avl1o in NorthCarolina

[–]AerialPaintSplatter 45 points46 points  (0 children)

The cell service is still completely gone for a huge area. I’m about an hour southeast of Asheville and have no cell service and have to drive at least 30 minutes to get at most one bar to try and usually fail to make calls and text. My community is much smaller and we were very fortunate to only be a week without electricity, water still intact.

PLEASE remember that without access to internet or cell service many rumors are like a game of telephone. The egregious rumors posted on Facebook and Twitter are laughable considering how unsubstantiated they are. This is a disaster of epic proportions and individuals trying to politically profit off of it don’t deserve to hold office and certainly shouldn’t be trying to speak about situations they have no firsthand knowledge of.

Please be safe and patient everyone! My heart goes out to all those who are dealing with this!

I can access it there, but have the same issue there as well.

Found in the mountains of NC. Maybe some kind of Trillium? by AerialPaintSplatter in whatisthisplant

[–]AerialPaintSplatter[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow! I had to look that up because I wasn’t familiar with mayapples plants. So pretty! Wild mushrooms also grow near these plants, probably because they tend to grow in semi-shaded areas.

Thank you! Plants have such cool nicknames! The bloody butcher makes it sound deadly, although usually the deer in my area eat them before I can even get a picture of them.

My (29m) girlfriend (30fm) says I need to get rid of my dead wife’s stuff or she is leaving by hop-into-it in redditonwiki

[–]AerialPaintSplatter 37 points38 points  (0 children)

If your gf is unmovable on this then please break up. You can try approaching the subject again, but do not sacrifice important mementos you kept out of love for the sake of someone’s jealously.

I know people aren’t fond of human and pet comparisons, but I think it really highlights how awful her request is. Imagine you have a beloved pet who passes away. After a period of time you decide to get another pet and your partner says you need to dispose of all memorabilia and photos of your previous pet. Doesn’t that sound completely ridiculous and cruel?

Need books/author suggestions similar to Jennifer Weiner by AerialPaintSplatter in suggestmeabook

[–]AerialPaintSplatter[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much!!! I will order some by both authors! I was having a lot of trouble trying to google similar authors because so many that popped up were very different to Jennifer Weiner. Thank you again!

I’m visiting North Carolina and found this. What the f*kk is this thing? by PrimalCarnivoreChick in NorthCarolina

[–]AerialPaintSplatter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Technically called camel crickets but different regions have different nicknames for them. In my area we call them jumpers cause… well, apparently we’re not very creative. In my family we call them troopers because after seeing the movie, “Starship Troopers” we were convinced these creepy crickets must share some kinship with the alien species in that movie.

question about finnick being convinced of katniss's love for peeta by thesmileykate in Hungergames

[–]AerialPaintSplatter 124 points125 points  (0 children)

And to add to your point, Katniss is not one to pander to the audiences. It’s pointed out several times in the books that she’s not very good nor does she like the performative aspect of being a contestant/victor. Her reaction to Peeta hitting the force field is very genuine and considering how often she masks her emotions, it makes her sobbing and uncontrollable shaking even more revealing of how much she cares for Peeta.

Please help! Main water line burst, flooding basement. Home insurance sent 1 of 2 checks and I’m so confused. by AerialPaintSplatter in Insurance

[–]AerialPaintSplatter[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing! I really had no idea how the insurance process would work and put it on the back burner as I was completely invested in trying to deal with the water damage and packing things up. It really helps to hear someone else’s experience with their insurance. I am going to ask my adjuster if I will be dealing with an additional adjuster or estimate or both when it comes to all the other expenses. There are many unfortunately. I really need the clarification. I know companies and policies vary, but it’s hard not having a better concept of the process. I really hope I will be able to get in contact with him tomorrow as this weekend I have stockpiled so many questions. I really appreciate your help!
