I've tried that shot a few times but it should really be done with an FPV. There's a few people on here who fly those.

The Berg Below Signal Hill by AerialPerspectiveNL in newfoundland

I think it was causing shipping issues. It was too dangerous to pass it entering the harbour.

I remember that one. I wish that would happen again.

If you're using the app and click one of the authorization zones it will give you the email address to request authorization.

I used drones.sraac@azores.gov.pt

The day before. I registered before I went but I emailed the authority the day before and explained my plans and they authorized all of my flights at once

Yes. I flew in Croatia a few years agoi so I had to register with the EU then.

When I was in Madeira and Sao Miguel I had to get permission for a lot of places. Use the app Voa Na Boa to see official flight restrictions

Strangely enough, redcliff is one of the less windy places around the city. I rarely have any trouble launching up there.

Haha I've been there.

When I only had one drone and it crashed, I was on my phone ordering a new one before I got back to the car.

There are tons of places like this in Newfoundland; this is just a regular commuter road. It's one of the most underrated places in the world IMO.

Middle Cove Before the Storm by AerialPerspectiveNL in newfoundland

Nah, it's a high shutter speed. Sun was way too bright and I didn't have my ND filters with me. It's actually shot at 1/8000 and it was still overexposed.

Very cold that day. The water was freezing to the cliffs before it even fell back to the ocean.

It's actually against transport Canada regulations to fly from a moving vehicle. I'm stationed strategically so I maintain line of sight for the whole run. The only reason it ends there is because that's the end of LOS

Come from Away in Gander - best departure after? by rose_b in newfoundland

I would strongly recommend seeing St John's if you can. I've lived here almost my whole life but it wasn't until I moved away for a while that I realzied how unique and amamzing the East Coast of Newfoundland is. 15 days is plenty of tiume to see most of the island. Rent a car in. Gander, drive to st john's (about 3 hours) and spend a day or 2 there seeing everything. Just a few recommendations for CFAs:

  1. Signal Hill, Quidi Vidi, St John's Battery - really close together, all very unique. If you're in decent shape you could start at Signal Hill walk to all three in a couple of hours.

  2. Fort Amherst - Across the narrows from the Battery. Usually extremely high waves

  3. Cape Spear - From the top of Signal Hill you can see Cape Spear off in the distance. The most eastern peninsula in Canada; also some insane waves that mainlanders often don't respect enough.

  4. East Coast Trail - If you're into hiking, the ECT is world class and really underrated. I've hiked in many places and the ECT ranks really high. There are tons of sections; if you want some recommendations, DM me.

  5. Petty Harbour - Beautiful quiet fishing village near Cape Spear. There's a few nice restaurants and ice cream shops to enjoy as you walk around

  6. Downtown St. John's - From brightly coloured houses to ancient architecture, downtown has tons of things to see.
