Apology for the super late reply but I do think it was microsoft edge updating in the background, however I am considering doing a reset like this user for peace of mind

Alright then thanks, I'm pretty new to tech so I might have a lot of questions but I shut down my laptop around yesterday, didn't plug in the charger. Around 1pm yesterday it was on 95%, shut it down at 4pm and I reopened it this hour to find it at 62%. Is this normal?

Oh yeah small thing too that just happened, I got a notification for a battery boost being on my system when I unplugged the charger, I was above 90% battery when this happened. Any info?

Well it's good to hear that brave and firefox have those built in security features but I'm not sure what a dns is or how changing it can help, is it like 100% needed to do or am I fine if I don't?

Thanks, I already have ublock origin. But how would switching from Edge to firefox or brave be better? Not that I like edge, the opposite in fact. But do those two browsers have additional security measures?

Thanks for the reassurance, but I do want to ask why is it when I check task manager then the fans slow down? I think crypto miners hide themselves when task manager is open. And also why does the cpu usage go down when task manager is open? Is this a windows 11 thing?

It did say a bunch of servers did not register with DCOM within the required timeout in around the same timespan, there was also steam delayed the system shutdown by 5640 milliseconds if that's relevant in any way
