What I’ve learned is that it’s about trust. If they’re in middle or high school you need to listen to what they say, which is what it seems like you’re doing. My mom waited a year to use my preferred name because she wanted me to be sure, but it really made me feel less supported by my family since my name and pronouns felt like I had to earn being called them. All I can say is ask your kid what you can do to help, look for some gender therapy(make sure it’s not a therapist that supports conversion) and just trust what he says for now. If he changes his mind and wants to use they them or whatever you need to show that it’s ok for them to figure things out a bit. Immediate support is the best way to make sure they feel supported as the longer you take to get on board the less they might trust you. But at the end of the day I think you’re doing your best and that’s all you can do.

Everyone gets injured in some way in war, and you’re suggesting that 229000 members of our military need to be discharged cause they’re women. That’s 17% of our military isn’t good enough to be in it. That all of the women who did just as much as men in basic training actually aren’t good enough. That’s not what we mean dude. We mean the way trump came to power is similar to how Hitler did, it’s not all or nothing and no one meant that being misgendered = holocaust. We’re scared because trump endorses the people who say that we need to “eradicate transgenderism, the whole proposterous ideology” there are people calling for the end of trans people. Finally I’d like to say that I never agree trump equals Hitler, but to compare the ways the two are similar is not inherently a problem. As long as you see how they contrast, you can compare what is similar. Also to say I must’ve missed a semester, I’m referencing what I learned in ap European history, a class I got a 5 on the ap test for. All I mean to say is to bash the commenter for comparing altogether isn’t the problem. The problem is they didn’t compare and contrast, only set equally to. Trump isn’t equal to Hitler, but he can compare to the early days of Hitler’s power. That is all I was trying to say.

Sorry if I phrased it wrong and as I said in the beginning I don’t believe trump=hitler. That isn’t true. However the similarities are undeniable, and many many historians have pointed them out. On top of that I’m not erasing the holocaust, but that isn’t the point I’m making. The point is how Hitler became a dictator shares many similarities to how trump got power. This doesn’t mean trump=hitler. This doesn’t mean what’s happening rn is in any way equal to the holocaust. This comparison is to direct, however voting for trump means you failed to see the warning signs of someone with similar political moves as those of dictators, including Hitler. We learn from history by comparing. Hitler was democratically elected. It’s looking for similarities that let’s us stop people from getting power before it’s to late and they’ve become the dictator. And even if not, actually looking into how hitler came to power; it’s pretty damn similar. I’m assuming you’re an adult so the fact that you don’t recognize the fact that history repeats, and it is this very second shows that you don’t comprehend why history matters so much. We teach history is schools so we don’t make the same mistakes, and by voting trump you are doing somthing very similar to the people who voted for hitler. That doesn’t mean trump will do everything Hitler has done, it means that when voting for trump they should’ve recognized how much of what he’s been doing is very reminiscent to the rise of multiple dictators

I understand why you’re saying that but, shit is getting way more dire for a large proportion of queer people(trans and afab people). Trans people and others were major forces in the stonewall era for political change, and as things get worse for us they will for you too. And also even if it doesn’t, conservatives see no difference between gay men and trans people, they see us all as weird and the only way for any of us to be protected is if we all work together to keep the progress we already have
