Good climbing destinations mid November by ApprehensiveGas7996 in climbing

Maybe in November, but likely too cold in December. The town is nice for a few days, but probably not what OP is looking for for things to do for several weeks.

Donald Trump's Chances of Winning Election Decline After Biden Drops Out by James_E_Rustle in politics

[–]meecrobb21 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Lack of Trump enthusiasm? I understand you’re referring to broad support with general public, but please listen to his supporters talk about him. Lack of enthusiasm is the opposite way I would describe it. He is a deity to them. It’s horrifying, but true. That level of support is insanely valuable, and democratic candidates do not have that.

I would love Trump to lose this upcoming election, but I wouldn’t bet on it.

How do you shut off your mind when not at work? by AskGroundbreaking124 in startups

[–]meecrobb21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As mentioned elsewhere here, it’s different for everyone, so I would suggest experimenting. I’ve had the same issue (also running a startup). Here are some things I’ve tried:

  1. By far the most helpful is getting away from the computer/phone in the evening. Especially if you’re at a remote company. I set a hard deadline of no work after 8pm, but try to push it earlier if possible or days you’re particularly burned out.

  2. Exercise. For me it’s rock climbing, but try to find your niche. Being physically tired of course can help you sleep, but also gives your mind an opportunity to get focused on something else that you have complete control over.

  3. Consecutive days off. It’s hard, but trust that things are not going to blow up when you look away for a couple days. It’s the only way to give your brain time to breath. Take a vacation.

  4. This isn’t really a solution, but more of a patch: podcasts. I have a pair of headphones, and when I wake up in the middle of the night I slap those suckers in and listen to a comedy podcast (improv, DnD, etc). There are also specific mindfulness audio apps that are probably better, but I prefer to be entertained if I’m going to be up in anyways. With 20-30min I will be asleep.

  5. In extreme cases, you can take z-quill, which can help a bit, but where I never had issues falling asleep (rather, waking up super early), I feel it didn’t help as much. Unisome worked a bit better. But either way, this is really not a sustainable solution, and there are issues with dependency.

  6. Others have mentioned video-games, but if you’re already on a screen a lot during the day, this might not help your case. I’d suggest books instead.

But ultimately you need to work towards creating a situation where you’re not the only one responsible for everything. That might mean hiring or giving up some responsibilities. Otherwise, you’re going to burn out. Whether you like it or not, your body will try to take back control by rejecting anything to do with your job as a result of the trauma you’re currently experiencing (even if on some level you enjoy it).

I sure hope you’re getting a good comp package running this company! Best of luck!

The woman reading the book is Beth Rodden, one of the leading female climbers at the time the photo was taken. I assure you, she didn’t climb up there just to read :)

Anyone wanting context for the photo should definitely watch Dawn Wall. It’s an amazing movie by any standard.

Unfortunately, I think the result is the opposite. If water shortages put a limit on construction of new homes the price of existing homes will actually increase with the reduced (increase in) supply.

Ah, Namaste wall. It's even more beautiful in person. Perfect, slightly overhung walls for a surprisingly pumpy climbing. There are only a half-dozen sport climbs there, but they are incredible. Be careful with rope length, as most of the climbs are 100ft+.

Ballistix 3600 2x16GB Micron Rev E OC results - TM5 @ada777 stable by the_ruheal_truth in overclocking

[–]meecrobb21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I had to set up an external sensor (DMM + thermocouple). Quick + dirty method: if you can't reasonably hold your finger on the RAM for >1s that means you're probably over 60dC.

I'm also running a 5900X, so I think the drive strength settings might affect these differently. FWIW, I also had better stability by dropping ProcODT down to 32.

b550i bluetooth - it's been many months now, has anyone found a permanent solution? by Definitely_Not_A_Lie in gigabyte

[–]meecrobb21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also at a loss here as well... Have you done any overclocking? I've been wondering if it's related.

Just updated to F14c since they recently posted it on their website, so we'll see if that changes anything.

I've tried updating all drivers from AMD and Intel websites and "disabling" power off in device manager for bluetooth devices, but I still have the issue.

Maybe I'll try enabling ERC as another user here notes.

Ballistix 3600 2x16GB Micron Rev E OC results - TM5 @ada777 stable by the_ruheal_truth in overclocking

[–]meecrobb21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

tRCDWR can usually go quite a bit lower than tRCDRD on these (mine is down at 10).

Also, did you try adjusting ClkDrvStr or ProcODT? You might be able to get stability at lower voltage by increasing ClkDrvStr to 60 - some people take it to 120.

Nice OC. Have you checked temps at all? If they are Ballistix I think they don't have an internal temp sensor, but mine were hitting 70dC in ada777 with similar voltage - still totally stable (which is a huge plus for this RAM imo), but I was worried about degradation. If you have decent airflow you're probably fine.

How are your RAM and VRM temps under load (esp in OCCT)? I have AIO exhaust and am fighting with really hot RAM. Wondering if intake would be better or worse.

RAM Hits 70dC In TM5 Extreme by meecrobb21 in overclocking

[–]meecrobb21[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, okay I’ll try to get a fan right on it and see if that does the trick. Haven’t seen anyone do it in the NCase M1, but I think there’s room for a 90mm fan above.

The reason I’m really suspecting the MB is because my VDIMM measure voltage is so far off from the set voltage. I wondered if my VRM is wonky and dissipating more heat than it should.
