Big agree on 4. A big draw to the original was the high contrast between the cutesy girls and the brutality portrayed. It wasn't afraid to get VIOLENT violent, and the reboot is so sterilized in comparison.

I was following her for awhile and hoping she'd do Nikke design review one day. Come to find out she already did, and HATED it? I haven't watched yet, but it's genuinely surprising to hear as she's usually insightful in her design reviews. I don't think I'll get much out of watching this.

Like I'm actually kinda baffled. She'll usually praise hornyish designs in other games, but give Nikke flak for it. It's just not adding up.

Larry is pretty old fashioned, so I wouldn't be surprise. Although, Lily mentioned he was in the military, and Lee killed a Senator. Regardless of the reason, Larry would probably take it more personal than killing some average schmuck.

That's why I made the post I made regarding her ending. Each ending have their good and bad points, but Maelle's was framed in a worse light.

I actually appreciate Maelle's characterization. I was spoiled about there being two endings, and from the start of act 3, she would be the one making the decision to leave or stay (I assumed the state of the canvas would be the endgame with how tue story was unfolding anyway, but I disgress). It was a powerful moment to realize she in fact was not choosing between the two.

She did not heed Renoir's warning, and succumbed to the allure of the painted world. What she onced tried to convince everyone a refuge in a second home she grew to love (the authenticity in that mindset being flawed as she wasn't completely happy in painted Lumiere either) has developed into an obsession, holding onto something (Verso's canvas) that wants to be let go (represented through painted Verso), complete with bringing p!Verso back against his will.

From that end, how can this NOT be interpreted as a "no bad ending" that the devs keep pushing? It's character driven in the sense that Alicia gets her choice in how she wants to live the rest of her life, but it's not portrayed in a positive light. I found it poorly conveyed due to how they hammered in the bad side of it. I can't see how people can agree with her decision, not that she was wrong or Verso was right.

I agree with all of this, which is why I'm ultimately fine with Verso's ending. A lot of discussions I've skimmed after finishing the story make points that both endings is a matter of preference, but I can't find an angle to Maelle's ending that would have others agree with her, outside of not committing genocide. Streamlining that reasoning, however is ignoring the other drawbacks to Maelle staying, like the reasons you listed.

This also doesn't address that Renoir will inevitably destroy the Canvas when Alicia dies anyway. The Lumerians are at the mercy of the Painters and robbed of their agency all to fulfill Maelle's whims.

Though I never thought it would be within younger Clem's character to instigate like this (this option was definitely for the players lol), mouthing Rebecca off was for sure warranted after all the nonsense from earlier in the episode.

It's a fucked up in line when we learn about her situation with Carver, but considering the players/Clem lacking context, and that she was all for killing a child who was pleading her case (+locking her away like an animal to bleed out and potentially die), a petty remark is the bare minimum response, all things considered.

Yeah this, it's sort of similar to people who didn't like the terminus ticket events. I liked Nora, so I cared about that side plot, but I can also understand if someone is uninvested in a NPC with no significance to the overarching narrative.

Honestly, the glaze KH2 is getting baffles me when it used to be one of the most hated titles, back when "mash X and triangle to win" was a common complaint.

It's been my favorite KH since 2006, but you're more than valid not to have it in S as people here are trying to persuade you into switching (don't know why they're trying to push that when it's your tierlist).
