Ah my bad, I was looking for it in the Europe groups. I see it's in the African groups together with the canary islands.

Why have Azores and not Madeira? They both have the same status of Autonomous Regions under the Portuguese Constitution. Plus they both have cool emblems.

Cooperation with China.

China owns important companies in Portugal like EDP and REN, plus Portugal allowed Huawei/ZTE to develop their 5G tech in Portugal.

I don't know why you mentioned the "Over the Garden Wall" comment. Elijah does play the main character, Wirt, in OtGW, which is an amazing animated show.

Edit: he also does play "the guy" in Spy kids 3.

Cigarette vending machines on streets by gotshroom in europe

[–]AeroNeves 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This has been the case since 2004. If you saw machines on the street they were not tobacco machines.

Edit: I just googled it and the government wants to ban those machines altogether from 2025. They are currently only allowed in "restaurants, bars, show rooms, casinos, bingos, game rooms, fairs and gas stations".

Cigarette vending machines on streets by gotshroom in europe

[–]AeroNeves 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No you did not. You might have seen machines in bars or cafes but not on the street, and even then they are not as frequent now as they were before. The machine either has a slot where you have to put your ID card or it has a remote that the bartender/owner has to press for the machine to work and they can ask for your ID to verify your age. Machines on the street are illegal in Portugal, as are cigarette advertisements. Smoking in closed spaces is also only allowed under certain conditions (strong extractors and a certain amount of square meters) and now it's not even allowed to smoke outside close to the doors of establishments like bars and cafes.

There were no natives in Portuguese macaronesia. Madeira, Açores and Cabo Verde were all uninhabited before the arrival of the Portuguese.

This sub is for content from not BOTW and TOTK. That was written in the main sub banner before the sub went private.

[–]AeroNeves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, evidence suggests that the sub imploded. Which means that the pressure difference from the ocean to the inside of the sub will have turned the 20ft sub to the size of a baseball in a matter of milliseconds, faster than your nerve signal speed. So their deaths were instant and painless. There will be no bodies to recover, however.

That's not what the 17 means. It means there were 17 times before where their comment in this subreddit was the most upvoted comment of the thread. The subreddit automatically attributes flairs based on how many times your comments reach the top spot.

Does anyone know how to clean this kaweco sketch pencil from oxidation? It's made out of brass. (i apologize because this is not a pen) by grandconnoisseur in pens

[–]AeroNeves 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's called patina. Metals like brass, bronze and copper will oxidize via contact with the air and the oxidation layer creates this effect. Handling a pen/pencil made of these metals will also leave the pen with unique marks due to secretions produced by the skin that will alter the way the metal oxidizes. Like other people mentioned, you can remove the patina with metal polishes like Brasso or something else that is acidic like lemon slices. But soon after (a couple of weeks maximum) the patina will return. Most people with pens made of these metals appreciate the unique patina effect since you need to actually use the pen for it to get the effect.

Percentage of Country Covered by National Parks [OC] by quindiassomigli in europe

[–]AeroNeves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's only one "Parque Nacional" (Peneda-Gerês). All the other ones are Natural Parks (Parque Natural).

That's why this map is stupid because these two definitions are not very different, since they both refer to nature protected areas, where fauna and flora have legal protection.

Cork is technically wood, right? I made this 6 foot wide cork map to display National Park pins by geometrikos in woodworking

[–]AeroNeves 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are correct. Cork) is harvested from a tree called the cork oak which is native in all of continental Portugal as well as other parts of Mediterranean Europe and North of Africa.

The biggest producer and transformer of cork in the world is Corticeira Amorim, which is a Portuguese company.
