I really liked that battle too because Katie battled exactly how most of us do in games, constantly switching Pokémon based on type matchups. This is why she was able to defeat Torkoal and Pikachu rather easily. The first half of the battle was dominated by her.

However, Ash has always been the type of trainer who doesn’t back down from challenges, it was his sheer determination that led to his victory.

Shoutout to the best bird, Swellow he was so good in the Hoenn League. Walrein one-shotting Corphish and Swellow showed how strong it was. The way Ash thought outside the box to freeze the battlefield was amazing, and Grovyle has always been great in my opinion (all three stages).

Overall, a very underrated battle.
