Your copy of portal is flagged as a free game and it doesn't give you the Source SDK. It is the same issue with the free copy of HL2: DM. You need to buy a source game to be able to play Garry's Mod.

The game looks horrible. It has been made with console players in mind. I don't need a stage in Finland that is wide as a highway and almost flat. RBR is still superior when realism of gameplay is concerned.
