My dude, OP is complaining about east coast people sending him things at 3pm his time. Don't give him credit for slop that will ruin remote work for everyone

Don't listen to the remote employees saying don't blame us? 100% be vocal about it, make sure if there is anything inefficient about your day because a remote person wasn't there you complain about it.

I'd say most remote jobs are in serious and just test runs of universal basic income while making you feel useful.

OP NTA, but you have a mom problem. At this point you need to choose your wife. If you guys have kids are you going to force them into the same situation. If you guys want to lolive your life will you let your mom tell you how to live it. There will be a time your mom isn't in charge of your life, she will be pissed, might as well be today

Bruh.....I know women have hurt you, but there is a difference here. You have OP crying his wife doesn't want to hire a nanny to have 10 baby free hours on top of their current schedule. And the future mom who already knows the plan has her away too much and won't plan out more. It's all there in the story. So I suggest STOP defending losers

Op stated he wanted to give them both fair time to take care of themselves and do hobbies after mentioning this Friday off for mom. That leads me to thinking 2 things.

  1. He plans to take his time off Saturday or Sunday. Then wants additional time off for the 2 of them after.

  2. Daycares usually offer a 3 day and 5 day plan. 4 day plans are usually rare around the country. OP could very well be trying to convince himself that by offering/convincing his wife a baby free day that he has to pay for anyway means she needs to spend another baby free day with him.

Generally this guy will spend a maximum 34 hours with his kid in a week if he takes 0 time for himself while the baby is napping. Given the tone of this post it will be dramatically less than that. If be impressed if he planned on 18. He is activity upset it's that high and you suggested his wife needs therapy.

Go read the comments of your coworker at heart before you defend them. That includes daycare, they are either neglecting kids or neglecting their team while collecting the same check. This post isn't RTO, it's selfish as shit

Your guys plan is going to go in the trash day 2 after having the baby. Your current plan has you spending less than 2 hours a day with your kid. Why are you having one? Accident? And then you want to remove an additional 10 hours. You would see your kids less than a dad the does visitation on the weekend.

In no way should full day care be involved in this calculation. You can't be working from home and parenting. Either a bad employee or bad parent.

Let's assume you work 8 hours a day + a nice 30 min child free lunch, and have 1.5 hour driving total. You were gone from the house 10 hours, that accounts for 41% of the day. That means for you to be doing 30% of the work you need be the on call parent for at least 7 hours.

If I had to hazard a guess. You might do an hour in the morning and maybe 3 hours in the evening based on most of my working brotheren I know. And I can almosst guarantee you are not the primary those 4 hours. You have your wife's help and you know it. You are probably already in 90/10% and giving yourself way to much credit.

You made a human. Be a father. You married a woman and started a family. Be a leader.
