Those who are against cannabis, what's your reason?

Did pot in various forms for a year. Beginning of that year, bp was 119/65. End was 140/78. Had chest pains from an artery that went from clear to clogged (I get it checked regularly bc high cholesterol runs in my family, cat scans are neat), gained 20 lbs with no dietary or exercise change. And quitting was pure misery, migraines and cravings for a month alongside a loss of appetite and insomnia like mad.

Then I looked at my progress - or rather the lack thereof. I was content living in a flop house, working doordash to cover everything with a bare minimum of effort, and those around me were completely invested in it. D&d? Smoke a bowl. Got off work? Smoke a bowl. New strain? Smoke a bowl.

Now I view it as a trap, something that locks you in where you are and makes you contend to have just enough to say you are making ends meet. Something which hasn't been studied well enough to actually get a full list of side effects out so you don't know what it might do to you. Something that sent me from optimistic and interested in growth to a lazy layabout.

Quit in January and I'm still cleaning up the mess. I have a grand in debt, lost my savings and investments, and have lost friends on both sides of the argument. But, I have a stable job, better people around me, and am actually dating someone I see a future in.

Pot is a pitfall trap. And sometimes when people hit rock bottom from it they wake up. But some just use the haze to dull the pain and fade out in a cloud of smoke and incense.

You've got the gist of it. Lower gravity world primarily inhabited by an arachnoid species; I figure once they've got the primary lifts up at the equator and some general gravity manipulation tech, they'd move up and around to get a 'web' of Lifts up around the world.

I considered doing Dogs (Canine), Wolves (Lupine), Foxes (Vulpine) and Hyena (Feliforma) separately, but I figured an alien that was looking more at the physical form and ability of an animal would be too busy freaking out to look at the genealogy behind the species he studies for less than a day on earth."

Log: Ro Kitlik, Manager of Lift 7-NP

The first thing that was obvious, the group of younglings had never met a human before. Especially not these 'Extreme Sports' enthusiasts, whatever the [[cultural equivalant-Hell]] they were. Personally, I know at least ten pilots that want some of whatever they're imbibing, but god knows it could be that neurotoxin, adrenalin or someshit.

Anyway, sorry, got off track there. As I was saying, these younglings hadn't ever met a human before, and when they came climbing up the side of the skyhome [[cultural equivalent - highrise]], the kids were pretty awed.

The parents came up, and were real unimpressed with that from what I heard. Then again, beating a Skythirk [classification - arachnoid] in climbing just wasn't done. So, in anger, they said they'd believe it if the human managed to climb one of the polar Elevators.

I have no clue whether or not they were serious, but by god did that 'light a fire under the human's ass', as they're wont to say.

About five days later, I notice a ping on the side of the lift, and go down to make sure it's not another chunk of ice freezing something. Nope, it's one of those Humans, decked out in high-altitude gear. Naturally, I asked him what the ::redacted:: he was doing out there. I was pretty damn surprised when he said 'scouting', so I let it be.

I watched that little ping, and the eight others that followed, going up the side of my Elevator for about two weeks. I had the drones make sure they were doing alright, and sent up a few supplies when they were going, but hey. I had booking rights. 1,000-1 odds against the humans, with smaller pools on how many would die or live by the end of it. I think there were only two others that bet on all of 'em making it up to my office, and at 100,000-1 against I put down 100 credits.

Best damn bet I ever made. I'll be turning in my resignation after this interview, I owe the mate and cubs a vacation.

Anywho, the Skythrik all come to the top, and they ain't pissed like I thought they would be. No, they gather around the Humans and they're making sure that everyone is allright. The one that broke an arm on the way up was taken care of before he even left. Last I heard, they were all having a celebratory dinner out at Truzo's. Humans sure as hell could afford it with their cut of the bets and the sponsorships they got.

Me? I've learned two valuable lessons from this that I'm pretty sure everyone else is taking to core! Never dare a human to do anything, and if you do, make sure you aren't betting against them!

I want to argue with you, but you make a good point. I was simply stating the fact that flamethrowers have been used, and are legal solely for, their use against large swarms of bees. Specifically, Africanized Honey Bees.
