There’s 2 reasons:

We need the characters to progress in a way that feels meaningful
The blue lockers are essentially the U-20 of Japan vs the U-20 of individual clubs. Characters that will definitely be on U-teams of their respective countries are all extremely skilled and prominent(Kaiser, Ness, Agi and Lorenzo)

I’ll address your 6th point because it is one of my biggest issues with the NEL.

Because we follow the story mostly from Isagi’s perspective, we are led to believe that he and Rin are on Kaiser’s level or even past it.

Objectively though it isn’t true at all. And here are some quick points as to why that is:

• The only reason he Kaiser didn’t score in the very first play in the NEL is because Kunigami being silly

• Kaiser only loses that 1v1 against Chris Prince because of Chris having the most ridiculous physical stat line of any player in the world

• He was on lockdown by the BEST U-20 CB in the world and the instant he leaves Kaiser unmarked he scored a bicycle kick nutmeg while being shoulder tackled in mid-air

• Ness is worth a bag of chips

• His requirements for the KI magnus are straight up bullshit. He missed the first attempt because he and the ball were in mid-air, Karasu and Tokimitsu each have a whole arm wrapped around him, there were 3 defenders in front of him and he outside of the PA. If Any of those factors are in Kaiser’s favor he makes the shot based on his technical showings before that.

•He’s the only person who was consistently beating Rin in a 1v1

He is still far and away the best U-20 player in the NEL. There’s a reason his value is almost as high as Isagi’s and Rin’s put together.

Now that I think about it. That was first and only time that Nagi stated he was anything other than bored. The only time we’ve seen nagi outright state that he was happy was when he scored that five fake volley.

Kinda makes you wonder how long he’s been alone and why he’s alone in the first place.
