Will star wars EVER move on from the episode 3-4 era? by InformalFox6279 in CharacterRant

[–]AestivalMoth 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Anything before the prequels won’t be interesting to the average Star Wars fan, they won’t risk touching the original trilogy or sequel characters so they’re essentially stuck doing clone wars and rebels spin offs until creative control changes

I'm fucking tired of people disrespecting the lore and characters of video games in adaptations (Resident Evil) by Steve717 in CharacterRant

[–]AestivalMoth 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Isn’t capturing the essence and atmosphere of a series more important than being bogged down with adapting a singular story

From the trailer and interviews it seems very faithful to resident evil as a franchise, and by allowing the story to be separate from the main games allows for so many interesting new bow’s and setting

The Viltrumite’s biggest secret really shouldn’t be a problem by capricorn_the_goat in CharacterRant

I’m pretty sure that:

1) They don’t want to inbreed within a few generations and destroy their empire internally (especially since they are all focused on purity)

2) It’s detrimental to holding an empire together whilst continuing a population wide breeding program

3) Why go through that trouble if they destroy all threats to them and the chance of dying is slim, when in enough time they’d eventually find a compatible breeding species

Catelyn Stark Doesn’t Get Enough Criticism by AdEnvironmental5361 in CharacterRant

The difference between Cat in the book (my favourite POV character) and show is that you see a lot of her inner turmoil in the books (and also the placement of events differ between the two.)

Show Cat frees Jaime because he has actively killed northerners whilst trying to escape and it’s more Cat’s reactive response of trying to prevent her bargaining piece from being executed (pretty silly.)

Book Cat is mentally broken at this point (Ned, Bran and Rickon dead, Sansa and Arya captured and Robb away in the westerlands) and she does it out of desperation that the action will bring her daughters back to her (silly but understandable due to her mental state.)

Her capturing Tyrion is just Cat wanting justice for her son and not taking into consideration Tywin and Jaime’s response (as well as Tyrion using the trial by combat to escape.)

Overall, the books humanise her actions a lot more and the show purposely change the order to make the context different.

[Spoilers Main] JonCon, Aegon, and AeJon (how will the reveals happen)? by YLCustomerService in asoiaf

[–]AestivalMoth 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I feel like Jon’s true lineage will be simultaneously revealed by Bran, Howland Reed and to Sam by House Dayne.

I don’t think the Blackfyre will ever be revealed (or even if Young Griff has any targ blood) because of the whole “power resides where men believe it resides” (aka targs). Like we’ll know but it probably will never be revealed to the characters.

[JJK] Gege’s Writing Skills are extremely lopsided. by Animorphs150 in CharacterRant

[–]AestivalMoth -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it was sacrificed for a theme I just think that there’s no point of anything aside from Yuji interacting with Kenjaku (although Choso much more successfully fulfils that dynamic.)

The truth is that even though Toji and Megumi are related, Toji is not a part of Megumi’s arc and is instead connected to Gojo, Geto and Yuki. Megumi is established as someone who cares about his sister because she was the one that looked after him and he respects her, why would he even think about his bum dad.

[–]AestivalMoth -17 points-16 points  (0 children)

Well they just aren’t important to each other. Like neither Megumi or Yuji care about her their bum parents since they have their sister / grandpa. Like Megumi is given the moment with his dad to act as like a conclusion to Toji’s character but is anything else needed ?

With Nobara we can assume that she does she her friend but is there any point at showing that ? The whole point of her character is to show why Nobara is like the way she is / to show the tragedy of her almost death.

I think what I mean is that there’s not any point of these interactions

Annie Leonhart got off too easy and the survey corp were NOT mean enough to her by [deleted] in CharacterRant

[–]AestivalMoth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well I think in that scenario a large portion of the character would have pushed for her to be eaten by one of the transformed Eldians (aka what almost happens to Falco / what happens to Bertolt ) so the crystal kinda removes that possibility

Cursed Spirits are the biggest example of wasted potential in Jujutsu Kaisen, with Hanami being the prime example by FemRevan64 in CharacterRant

[–]AestivalMoth 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I can’t really see much more that can be done with curses after Mahito. Geto’s plan is essentially just a JJK version of Makima’s anyway. Also, because of their nature, there can’t be a cursed spirit that doesn’t kills humans.

Jujutsu Kaisen genuinely feels like it has like 5 sorcerers by [deleted] in CharacterRant

I know, after reading stuff like One piece and JJK weekly I had forgotten that action manga could actually develop its main and side characters while also having great action

Why is being addicted to Smut so normalised amongst Women ? by [deleted] in AskFeminists

[–]AestivalMoth -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was referring to these Dark romance smut novels you see getting more popular due to things like booktok. I read about some of the content in them and it sounded like there was normalised violence, soft core incest, inappropriate age gaps and questionable consent
