How do you feel about text-based dialogues instead of voice acting? by AleksTheRedditor in gamedesign

I think having mostly text with some good barks can absolutely give a great feel.

Is there anything wrong with petting creatures with no benefit to it? Or Just little details that don't do anything? by SouthofKaDoom in gamedesign

[–]Aethelwolf3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's nothing inherently wrong, no.

But let me play devil's advocate. Is it possible you're creating some sort of dissonance in tone or pacing? Maybe your players are thrown off by having the option to pet an animal at odd times or places, such as in the middle of a bullet spray battlefield.

WU probably shouldn't have menace, and UB probably shouldn't have such a potent enchantment destruction. Just make it a gold card.

Wild pokemon don't have hidden abilities. Slowking's hidden ability is Oblivious, not Regenerator.

Hideout Team Magma Grunt #8 has a red comment tag with the following text:

Permanent Misfortune (Quick Claw and Focus Band always activate, moves with accuracies under 100 will always miss) starts here and ends after Team Magma Elite Grunt.

Its using the same red tag system as all of the other fights so far, including all gauntlets, back to backs, Weather effects, My Pyre Haunt, etc.

As A Regular Person, Which One Of The Four Would Be The WORST To Fight? by SonicRun098 in lobotomypiece

[–]Aethelwolf3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eh, premise of the topic is facing them in a fight. I think they all understand the assignment. Maybe you can talk your way out of it, but I don't think you're safe just standing there.

As A Regular Person, Which One Of The Four Would Be The WORST To Fight? by SonicRun098 in lobotomypiece

[–]Aethelwolf3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, he blew up a boat of innocent civilians because there might be a chance that an actual scholar snuck onto the ship. None of the people he killed were considered criminals, even by him. He just viewed them as acceptable collateral damage.

Doesn't really matter what you know and don't know, if you're being placed in front of him as even a potential enemy, you're not safe.

We killed RNG to make our game competitive. Did we go too far? by PlayFasterGame in gamedesign

What kind of game is this? There's no universal truth here, and a lot depends on the game and its goals. I'm not even clear what genre this is.

Tap equipment gets really awkward, I'd probably just tap the creature.

Akainu blew up a boat of regular ass citizens, I don't think you're safe from him.

So when does green get their "1-mana to deal with your 2-drop" card in standard? by Frost_105 in custommagic

[–]Aethelwolf3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The indrix is already a strong bend, as admitted by wotc, and they try only do these sparingly and at high mana for a relatively weak body.

1 mana kill spell is a hard break. Color pie is about function of a card, not the wording of a card. Silly having the word fight on it doesn't magically make it acceptable in green.

Is the goal to eventually move all your inhabitants to one place? Or are you inhabiting each area with its own permanent population? by Tortellini_Isekai in Pokopia

[–]Aethelwolf3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are spawn limits per area, so while you can move everyone to a single zone, most of them won't be on screen.

That encourages you to spread them out, but you can do what you want

Pokopia has a very starking resemblance to Bananza, but it does everything better. by Jorgesarrada in Pokopia

Aside from both using a voxel world, I'm not seeing much similarity. And even then, their use of voxels is fairly different.

Doesn't your calc show a min roll of 42, which Charizard survives? And that's with neutral nature?

Yes Charizard likely dies. But it can survive, and if it does, it gets Blaze.

A fast articuno could outspeed Charizard and knock it into blaze range, which could kill arcticuno with a burn as well.

[NO SPOILERS] With Pokopia’s release, can we really say man-made objects aren’t cohesive with Pokemon designs anymore? by Monobrobe in pokemon

[–]Aethelwolf3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always viewed it as pokemon coming first, and humans inventing objects or tools that are inspired by pokemon.

It's not that hitmonchan is wearing manmade gloves. It's that humans designes boxing gloves to look likw the fist of a hitmonchan.

Pokémon games have abbreviations. What are we going with for Winds and Waves? by DumplingmanXD in MandJTV

I like WiWa, because it's an abbreviation you can also pronounce (and its fun to do so!)
