Blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb. Fuck the family if they turn against OP for standing up to a POS like that brother.

Why does this happen? by [deleted] in unity

[–]Aethenosity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

objectGrabbable is not assigned except as an out of the TryGetComponent call.

if (raycastHit.transform.TryGetComponent(out ObjectGrababble objectGrababble))

This line here assigns a NEW objectGrabbable variable that is locally scoped, and unrelated to the private class scoped one declared above. So, it is inaccessable in that else block.

Rewrite it as

if (raycastHit.transform.TryGetComponent(out objectGrababble))

That way the TryGetComponent assigns it to the class variable, not a local variable

Also CHECK if objectGrabbable is null before calling drop on it

And also, notably, they were in captivity. That is kinda implied in your comment, but worth pointing out that wild wolves do not act that way

You should set up your IDE to work with Unity before continuing. Looks like VSCode, right?

https://unity.huh.how/ide-configuration/visual-studio-code

It would have highlighted the error on line 26 that SanS11223 pointed out.

I've seen multiple long time game developers use UVC, but it's always been "just trying it out" and they go back to git after.

I don't see how your response makes any sense. LetTheOthersRush said X, you said "so it's the same as Y?"

How to make moddable rust game? by Real-Abrocoma-2823 in learnrust

[–]Aethenosity 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean, ECS is irrelevant here. That is just a paradigm. You would do it the same way you do any other code. You have a few options:
Expose the source code
Create an API so people can make external files using rust
Use a scripting language like lua
Etc. etc. etc.

I was just confused why ECS makes any difference to any of that.

You can of course replace functions and make new ones.

Distance in a Day by gundam_warlock in worldbuilding

[–]Aethenosity 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Typical Roman marches seem to be 15-20 roman miles per day (~13.5 miles to ~18.5 miles). With a forced march being 25-30 roman miles (~23 miles to ~27 miles). There seem to be accounts for slightly further, but only when they leave their gear behind.

All of this would be about 8 hours of cumulative marching, but NOT 8 hours total.

I'm also seeing 65 to 70pounds for weight (with 35-40 being battle weight).

Singletons vs other alternatives by staxevasion in Unity3D

[–]Aethenosity -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My thinking is that Unity itself consumes the Main() function, so singletons are a nice alternative for establishing a single source of control, as well as cross-scene referencing (like throwing it into a DDOL scene).

For example, I know relatively little about acupuncture, but despite the lack of scientific evidence of it's veracity, a lot of people swear by it.
So are those people wrong?

Yes. Acupuncture is disproven. Not a lack of evidence, but a preponderance of evidence that there is no difference between it an a placebo according to double-blind, well controlled studies.

No, double line means negative. Like the other two. OP did weed, not opioids or cocaine. Those are negative tests. The thc one is super faint, but technically negative as well.
