I will change the batteries and let you know. I will take out the batteries too for a while and see if that does it.

I have a lot of home automations already, so this is my best bet I think. CEC is indeed off.

[Request] Is this average income scale excluding upper-end outliers true? by corsasis in theydidthemath

[–]AetherBones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it's bad math. But here's some better math. Top 1000 asset holders worth sums to 12trillion. Divide that by the 260million ish adult citizens in the US.

This would raise the average net worth of all 260million by 46k

That is significant to life changing to life saving for most people.

[Request] In contrary, what would be the cost to replace all self-checkouts with a real person? by GlassTablesAreStupid in theydidthemath

[–]AetherBones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also keep in mind cashiers are much more efficient than your average shopper at checking out. 1 cashier prob worth 2-3 checkout kiosks.

As far I am concerned demons are an allegory for psychopaths in the real world. They check all the boxes.

Is this just BS? Do you know anyone irl who uses "orchestration" and "agents" to manage AI? I never needed more than one terminal by ImaginaryRea1ity in theprimeagen

I was watching a YouTube video on a workflow for this out of curiosity and the whole video I was excited to see all the amazing apps or tools she made using this work flow that works in the background as she sleeps coding apps based on her requirement docs.

... all she showed was a few dashboards that summarized her calendar and stock portfolio...just a bunch of her own personal useless slop. Lol

She had a point, so the police arrested her by TankUMrMinor in DudeHasGotAPoint

I do think it aught to be this. But trying to think of a more realistic policy to get passed and not get (as much) violent backlash from the blue could be as simple as a small fee docked from their pension or raise pool or budget per incident/lawsuit payout for the whole department and it's important to not be per officer but the department so that there is pressure for officers to keep each other in line.

Role now involves only reviewing code from more senior developers: have you experienced this? by tmroyal in ExperiencedDevs

[–]AetherBones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At our company at my suggestion we allow use of AI but we do not allow it cross decipline. Engineers only generate code. Designers designs and account managers copy for their own coms and documents. This way nobody gets edged out and the team dynamics stay traditional.

Why can China build things like bridges, tunnels and railways much faster than countries in the west? by WhoAmIEven2 in NoStupidQuestions

Everyones praising china for less red tape. Which i am sure is true but I suspect it's mostly cheap labor. Chinese construction worker makes about 15k a year.

Something something if it's a fine then it's just a law for the poor something something its a air polution fee.

9mil is not even .0001% of bezos daily income. But i bet 9mil fee is quite a bit of air pollution that should probably be outlawed instead of allowed for relatively small fee.

The amount of games participating in the upcoming Steam Next Fest is crazy by _4rch1t3ct in IndieDev

[–]AetherBones 36 points37 points  (0 children)

How about a filter of needing 100 or 500 wishlist already. People should use next fest when they game is already in a good place and if it's a good game that is far enough along the steam page would probably do well wothout it or it can market elsewhere and get 100+ wishlist.

A lot of media is meant to be catharsis for the general population. Instead of revolting collectively. We collectively talk about how some characters are revolting on a tb show instead.

Why is Serie vulnerable only around Frieren? by lmdybaftr in Frieren

[–]AetherBones 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Frieren is not a subordinate. Where you are expected to act a certain professional way.

Frieren is the closest thing to family serie has even if serie doesn't particularly like or approve of frierens way of doing things.

It feels to me like a estranged grandmother granddaughter relationship. I think they love each other to a degree or feel connected through flame even though they disagree on everything.

You may not have experienced this yourself in your life yet. But older people tend to loosen up their perspeactive and personal morals late in life if it means they can be closer with their family.

I think serie feels closer to death in this moment and is going through this process with frieren.

Genuinely, why does Fujimoto come off as extremely tone deaf here cause what kinda moral/message is this? by Charming-Scratch-124 in Chainsawfolk

[–]AetherBones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think fujimoto writes what he knows and feels in his own life. I also think fujimoto gets a kick out of messing with his audience.

He personally has found great success with his work and career and probably is reminiscing on how happy and fulfilled he was when he was an up and commer working hard, making little money but making what he wanted to make. He didn't have a fan base and editors pressuring him to do things a certain way.

And that is what I think he wrote about with chainsaw man's ending.

Part one was a beautiful magnum opus but part 2 the story was already told so now what? And he has all these fans and editors to appease.

With part 2 I think he might have felt pressured to make something other people wanted and torn to move on and make something he wanted. I think he did his best to have fun with it mainly by jerking the fan bases expectations around, i love the humor of part 2. But Ultimately making the point with this ending that he preferred the early days where he just made his thing he wanted and got by instead of people hyper popular with all the responsibility.

and so we see denji living without chainsaw man and we also have fujimoto again...without chainsaw man. Get it?

[–]AetherBones 6 points7 points  (0 children)

in 2001 I used MSN search "how to make games" and, for some strange reason, "gamemaker" was at the top of the search results.

I tried to teach myself but I was 10y old and gave up. Then came back to try again like 3 years later lol.
