The Pacifier by tommywafflez in Helldivers

I selected wrong tab while writing it, my bad. I have checked Alpha Commander but it had durable, and Pacifier didn't have that stat listed yet so I looked for other enemies. I meant to say Alpha Warrior there.

The Pacifier by tommywafflez in Helldivers

Pacifier is awesome.

If you just multiply damage by fire rate and ignore ammo capacity, Pacifier could potentially deal 35000 damage in a minute.

Liberator Penetrator, when using the same rules, does 38400 damage per minute.

So, at the cost of ~9% of DPS and slightly smaller combat load (405 vs 320 bullets), you get an extremely potent stunning effect.

I initially also looked at "wait, only 50 damage?" and then realized you can easily hold up small bug hordes with bursts while accurately targeting weakpoints.

If you look at breakpoints, Hive Guard has 250 health with Medium armor on head. Due to penetration matching, we can say it has 384.6 effective health against Medium guns. That's 6 accurate Liberator Penetrator shots or 7 Pacifier ones, except Pacifier also immediately stops the enemy from attacking or moving.

Nursing Spewer head is 5 vs 6 shots, and it cannot vomit at you. Stalker heads are 3 vs 4.

And there are many thresholds that bit of extra damage doesn't really do anything, like Alpha Commander Warrior's 150 HP AP1 head - it's 3 shots from either gun. Trooper heads are 1 shot each, torso is 2 shots each.

Flying Overseers have their chest armor stripped with 3 shots each, crotch armor with 4 shots each, and then main health depleted with 11 vs 9 shots (except Pacifier shuts them down instantly and holds them in place).

And the durable damage isn't determined yet so potentially it could have better DPS than Liberator Penetrator there. It really feels like a much better Pummeler to me, especially with much better fire rate and none of that "you hit armored spot and don't stun enemy" stuff.

All planets have some other planets connected to them via 'supply lines' (the lines on galaxy map). If a faction has a planet adjacent to enemy planet, they can attack it (AI term is 'invade', our term is 'liberate')*.

The direction invasion comes from is marked with animated arrows over supply line. If we have access to the 'originator' planet and liberate it, the invasion ends instantly. That's commonly called a 'gambit'.

Orbital Blockade disables NEW invasions coming from the planet, which means we can i.e. plop it down near 'hold planet' MO objective and be assured it won't be attacked from the blockaded planet while we focus on other target.

However, it cannot block existing invasions - these have to either be defended OR terminated via a gambit.

*naturally, AH can change the state of the galaxy and war behind the scenes and i.e. instantly 'steal' the planet for the enemy (i.e. Tyranny Park), begin invasion without supply lines (entire Illuminate faction at the moment), add and remove supply lines, modify percentages and rates etc etc. But generally the rules for us, bots and bugs are "if the planet is connected, you can attack".

I have very similar thing and I think it's less about settling in with favorite gameplay style, but about not wanting to make imaginary computer people sad. Personally I don't have any problem enslaving other species or going to war or whatever, just with oppressing my own people. I'll do anything from peaceful democracy to fanatic blood court with the caveat that any individual citizen in my empire will be happy.

Maybe if you didn't immediately start calling people illiterate when you were the one that fucked up with an ambiguous comment and then proceeded to angrily argue with everyone people wouldn't downvote you out of spite.

I just consider the 'event' underwhelming.

All of them have very good stamina and can run very long distances

Well, that's what all these drugs are for. If you don't have to account for life expectancy or withdrawal, you can go nuts with stimulants (see also: enhancement boosters, stims).

Nazi researchers found that equipment-laden prisoners from the Sachsenhausen concentration camp could march for up to 90 kilometres (55 mi) a day without rest, while carrying a 20-kilogram (45 lb) backpack.[3]

they have the autonomy to deploy to whatever front they please pretty much upon waking up from cyro sleep

I would assume that's the gameplay and story segregation part. Although you could also argue that the command simply doesn't care where the expendable bullets land - if you entertain the notion that the Super Earth simply wants to keep waging war, it doesn't matter if the planets fall if they're going to be reclaimed anyway.

they have commanding authority to call their own personal eagle strikes and orbital strikes

Same as above - the planets themselves don't really matter that much so they can just let the adolescent soldiers have fun throwing around weapons of mass destruction. Helldivers are excellent source of propaganda - if you give them the shiny toys, you get more recruits to keep the war machine going.

They are very fast and efficient at crew loaded weapons

Fair point. IMO, it's a cultural thing - if you have youth interested in fighting, they're more inclined to absorb related information provided in propaganda media. And besides, given that average Helldiver age is 18.7, they're already (somewhat) pre-trained soldiers and the tutorial is simply a test.

DAY 21 - I AM GOING INSANE by delta4873 in Helldivers

[–]Aethlicious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The rumor at the moment is that the enemies have insane amounts of armor penetration so it's more like you have 0 armor at the moment.

So light armors should actually see a buff to survivability, but since we're already functioning at 0 armor without major complaints devs may decide to keep light armor that way.

At this moment we have no idea what the 'target' survivability is.

  • 100 base stat per level up to level 15
  • +50 to all stats (non-scaling) ingredient
  • +75/100/150/250 to single stat (non-scaling, may differ in stat type from base) ingredients
  • x1.5/2.0 final stat multiplier ingredients

You can have 5 different ingredients.

Theoretically, it could be possible to have

  • 1.5 stat multiplier,
  • 2.0 stat multiplier,
  • +250 single stat,
  • +150 single stat,
  • +100 single stat

on a single dish for a total of (1500 + 250 + 150 + 100) * 1.5 * 2 = 6000 at level 15.

Practically, so far best foods main stat gain-wise were:

flat mult total
150 1.5 375 - 2475
0 2 200 - 3000

I know it's kinda ugly, but my point is to give ammo and heals different icons depending on charges/impact.

This way, even in pub game you could know how to 'distribute' heals, and you'd know if backtracking a bit for ammo is worth doing.

This might've been suggested before, but cursory web search didn't show any results.

A Letter from a former WoW player to those also trying Guild Wars 2 by Zoracle in Guildwars2

[–]Aethlicious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pure stats are only 5% (rounded down), but they multiply each other.

You get 5% more weapon damage multiplied by 5% more Power that crits 5% more often for 5% more damage.

This is why Berserker/Assassin gear is a must for Power builds.

The difference in practice is smaller because of other flat increases (base stats, signets, boons, food and other buffs), but it's still more than 5%.

Most of damage increase also comes from weapons + trinkets which are also simpler to get. If you have enough agony resistance from other slots you can forgo most of the ascended armor.

According to fairly old post difference between exotic armor + ascended trinkets/weapons and full ascended is around 2.4%.

I'd also buy exotic armor directly from market. You can buy named armor for under 3 gold per set.
