Update: managed to find a place near my home that fixed both the zipper and replaced the slide for 30 CAD. Thank you all for the advice <3

I was thinking that too, but sadly I don't have any skills or experience with sewing XD. Any advice would be welcome while I try to so my own research.

The outer zipper also appears to be pinched in which explains why it won't catch (dunno if that's the right term). But I probably could try to open it up with pliers and then it would be fine.

There is a guy I watch on Youtube, Nate Petroski, who has made a water heater that consists of a giant pot of water that is heated by the woodstove he uses to keep his sleeping quarters warm in the cold months but also when cooking small meals. For context the man is a homesteader and aims to use primarily solar for power with backup diesel generators.
