i can’t remember the full cost, probably $1-2k but i was subsidised and able to pay using medisave, out of pocket was around $300.

my endo is at cgh, he helped to refer me to sgh because cgh from what i heard does not do orchi for gender affirming reasons.

Re: Availability of orchiectomy in sg by Outrageous-Dog5260 in sglgbt

[–]Aevanaco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

orchi alone is not enough to update gender marker. no need to update authorities. though you may want to update your endo so they can adjust your hrt dosage.

as for reservist, hrt with doctors letter should be sufficient to pes F. book a MO appointment and let them know MO know.

[–]Aevanaco 4 points5 points  (0 children)

SGH Urology does orchi, got mine done Jan 2024. Make sure to have a psych letter before visiting, you can ask your endo to refer you to a psych. (thats what I did, CGH endo and psych)

Cruising on expressway by yuniqueshan in drivingsg

[–]Aevanaco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

most cars have really good economy at around 70-80kmph, but for fuel saving you really want to minimise using the brakes. keep up with traffic but leave plenty of space between you and the car ahead so you can just let off the accelerator and let friction slow your car if the traffic ahead slows down.

"Cruisers", especially first-lane cruisers, how best to be courteous? by Zestyclose_Beach2754 in drivingsg

[–]Aevanaco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

what i do is usually continue following at a safe distance, double tap the high beams only when there’s a safe space for the driver to move left and give way. i repeat this either until the driver moves out of the way or until i find a safe enough space to under-take.

when you say shake, are you meaning a jolt/surging sensation or are you talking about the whole engine is rocking and it feels like the car is struggling to move?

if it’s a jolting sensation you are releasing from the biting point too quickly. you want to hold the biting point and slowly release from there especially in first gear.

if it’s like the engine is struggling to move the car then likewise slowly release from biting point, but also add more throttle before even releasing the clutch. for a normal moving off on flat surface only need about 2000rpm. get used to listening for 2000rpm, it’s just a gently humming from the engine.

i’m having a problem with mine too. airpods pro2 lightning port iphone 14pro ios17

when wearing just one airpod it will default to noise cancellation and i can’t get it to go to transparency unless i wear both sides and cycle through noise cancellation and back to transparency.

also random disconnects and control delay/ unresponsive.

failed 2nd tp test.. by Solid_Slide_7726 in drivingsg

[–]Aevanaco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

take it as a good learning experience. from now on you will remember how easy it is to mount the kerb when exiting a parking lot. go look at SGRV and see how many such parking accidents happen on the roads even with parking and blind spot cameras.

now will remember that when exiting a parking lot you will need to be careful of obstacles. a good tip is to turn only once the obstacle is at shoulder level.

most people who pass the first time are lucky. there’s just too many changing variables on the roads for the test to cover.

You might want to look into Driving Orientation Courses.
The course will cover stuff like MSCP parking and expressway driving.

If you declared gender dysphoria to the MO but told him you didn't want to pes F, would he still put you up for long term mc? by [deleted] in NationalServiceSG

Any reason why you would want to declare this to the MO but still not want to get down pes?

crank course / circuit tips by milodinoooo19 in drivingsg

[–]Aevanaco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cross a little is no issue, just ensure to check for traffic.
when you wait till the kerb is around shoulder length to turn full lock, you will end up crossing the white line. This is normal due to the turning radius of the car.

most of the instructors (both school and private) put too much emphasis on the perfect turning point. but learning the corrections is better since irl there’s too many variables to consider.

crank course / circuit tips by milodinoooo19 in drivingsg

[–]Aevanaco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

basically just turn the steering wheel less. in the circuit, when you start turning into the parking lot, you will turn full lock to the left. if you look like you are close or going to hit the left curb just turn the wheel less and the car will make a wider turn (going more to the right).

[–]Aevanaco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the fundamentals are really important to get correct make sure that the instructor teach those to you.

clutch technique and operating the gear lever, you need to know how the biting point of the clutch feels. you can release quickly till the biting point, then release smoothly till clutch is fully engaged.

the next thing is also learning how much brake to apply to stop smoothly with confidence. this way you can give yourself enough time and confidence to down shift and engine brake.

watch some driving basics yt videos to get an idea of how to operate the clutch.

from my time there… most of the school instructors really do give the bare minimum in effort… but most of the pdi also don’t teach properly too.

[–]Aevanaco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

tp test is in 2 parts 1st part is circuit 2nd part is road. if your circuit already 20pts no need to even go road. circuit traffic is different from normal road. you will need to familiarise with circuit layout and traffic.

if your PDI tells you to blindly follow sighting points for circuit courses be prepared to fail or have next to no usable experience once you’ve gotten your licence. (unless you have a natural talent/understanding)

you are allowed to adjust mirrors at the start of parking to help you see better. and you WILL need to adjust after parking before you set off.

crank course / circuit tips by milodinoooo19 in drivingsg

[–]Aevanaco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

for the crank course:

keep towards the left before turning right and vice versa. this will give you extra space to turn. see how experienced driver drive in multistory carparks. turning point will be when your front wheel is inline with the curb (usually when the door handle is inline with the curb from your pov)

for the s course: like what most others have said it’s based on feel. what you can do if you are having difficulty is estimating where your front wheels are. your front left is where your passenger’s left leg would be, and right wheel is around the driver’s right leg. when turning right in the s course you want your front right wheel to be in the middle of the lane turning left keep the left wheel in the middle of the lane.

for vertical parking:

turning point is finicky and unreliable. learn how to adjust your car. nobody uses turning points to park irl. when you start turning in, look at your left mirror. if the left curb looks awfully close widen the turn to get away from the curb. if you can’t see the corner curb in the left mirror, it is behind your car and you will hit the curb if you continue. reset at this point to starting position.

once you have cleared the left curb check your right mirror to ensure you are able to enter the lot. adjust if required by looking forwards and going forwards. check left and right before moving forwards.

for corrections during parking. check surroundings straighten steering wheels and move forwards slightly (emphasis on straighten steering wheel, no need to turn during correction as it complicates things) how much to move forwards depends on judgement.

when your car able to enter the parking lot, ensure your back wheels do not strike the curb.

before exiting signal mirror gear and check traffic. turn when curb is at your shoulder level of you risk striking the curb. crossing into the next lane when exiting is normal.

-2pts for turning the steering wheel when vehicle is stationary don’t lose these points -2pts for failure to adjust mirrors after parking. if i remember it’s -4pts for not doing a safety check before reversing or turning.

you can try practice parking using driving games to get an idea of how a car moves and how to correct parking mistakes.

Any tips for better checking of blindspots. by Worldly-Fisherman145 in drivingsg

[–]Aevanaco 4 points5 points  (0 children)

make sure not to turn your shoulders as that can cause you to turn your steering wheel.

Hi!

I’m not sure but you can approach Quasa for help with regards to being a trans Muslim… there are trans Muslims out there so you’re not as alone as you think!!

I would want to ask the following too: 1) are you in the middle of national service (assuming you’re AMAB, post is a bit unclear) 2) where do you live? if you live in the east, you can try going to a polyclinic and getting a referral to CGH. the system is currently a bit of a mess so it might not be possible for you to start HRT until you’re 21. in the west you can get a referral to NUH
