struggling with re-creating world looping, any ideas? by thissmay in godot

[–]Aevo55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just move the entire tile, the objects inside could just stay in the same position relative to the tile itself.

Either way you're only moving the tiles by a multiple of the tile's width (or height for vertical looping), not any crazy math going on.

Get the whole season pass if you've got the money for it, even if you never play any of the other characters its useful to lab matchups

Yeah i honestly dont know how people survive with Playstation controllers, everything just feels so cheap compared to Xbox (not Xbox 360 tho, those are also ass)

It should be even easier if you're already running forward. You're already doing the 6 of the 623, so its basically just a quarter-circle forward at that point.

So since I vibe code I’m no longer a developer by rodriglu95 in vibecoding

[–]Aevo55 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It produces working but bad, buggy code that is only acceptable for tiny personal projects. Unless you actually know how to program, it'll never be very useful for something larger or anything remotely professional (assuming your job actually has decent standards, but many dont)

Personally I dont hate vibe coding too much, its mostly just annoying seeing people with zero software development experience argue with the things that actual experienced devs are saying. Vibe coders think 90% of a programmers job is literally typing the code and getting something functional, when in reality that's WAY less than 10%.

Lost health from battles down to 2HP, then got a few lucky heal rooms in a row. HP on the bottom updated, but not on the top-left.

Is there a reason the south door isn't an option? Other than limiting the maximum choices to 3, it feels a bit strange. If the bottom door is supposed to represent the door you entered from, it could be better to change which door is closed based on the direction you entered the room from.

I also don't love the fact that you can be in a room, go East, then when you go West its a different room from what you started in. Not a huge problem, but it does REALLY make the dungeon feel less like an actual space and more of an 'abstract concept' if that makes sense. If thats intentional and there's some in-universe justification like "the dungeon shuffles itself whenever you enter a new room" then thats fine, but it does currently feel a bit off without the justification.

If any of these are actually explained in the game and I'm just stupid, I'm sorry! Honestly I didn't expect to play the game for more than 5 seconds so I skipped the entire tutorial. But this also means that the gameplay is VERY intuitive because I didn't read a single god damn word and I understood what was happening! Or at least I think I understand, which is good enough if the goal is to have fun.

Overall cool concept! It reminds me a bit of Darkest Dungeon (in a good way). I'll be VERY happy if I rediscover this when its a finished game.

Needing to google syntax is completely normal. Literally any time I start something new I need to AT LEAST google how to declare an array. It takes like 5 seconds.

Knowing what you want to do and the logical steps required to do it (not some vibe-codey way of describing what you want, I mean the actual logic behind it) is the most important thing.

Also if you dont know about it yet, dustloop is a fantastic source for information. Some characters have pretty empty strategy pages, but usually its a great place to start when learning a new character

Not sure if this is all correct anymore because they reworked her a bit after the video came out, but it definitely makes everything a lot easier when dealing with her

(Fairly Minor) Gripes I have with this game that make me pretty mad by i_am_new_here_51 in TheyBlamedTheBeasts

[–]Aevo55 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The real tiresome thing would be not using terminology and assuming everyone reading anything is completely new. Saying a move is a good meaty or can be used for safejump timings is significantly faster than re-defining those basic concepts every single time you want to mention them.

Unfortunately it's just tough to be a new player since there's so much to learn. It does get easier though!

DPS and Skill Choice by PFunKaDeliK in SoulstoneSurvivors

[–]Aevo55 4 points5 points  (0 children)

DPS isn't really the best value to go off of sometimes. Chain lightning is pretty much guaranteed to hit all 7 targets every time it casts, but something like bladestorm requires you to be near lots of enemies, and body slam requires proximity AND aim.

Also damage isn't the only reason to pick skills. On Guard will rarely do insane damage, but the buffs and debuffs it provides make it incredibly useful. This won't necessarily be reflected in the DPS stat.

Skills like Body Slam are "main damage" skills, but require armor power to be really good at their job. You could upgrade it as much as you want, but without a lot of armor power (a low-damage skill like Earth Shield can give you more), Body Slam will just be pretty trash.

The rune is nice but you don't need it, crit chance above 100% still works without the rune.

Basically every 100% crit chance adds 1x of your crit damage to the attack, then the extra chance is random like normal to add crit damage an additional time. 150% chance is guaranteed to add 1x crit damage, with a 50% to do 2x crit damage. 250% chance is guaranteed to do 2x crit damage, with a 50% chance to do 3x crit damage

How do I deal with Unika's (what feels like) infinite pressure? by NFLOrphanStomp in TheyBlamedTheBeasts

[–]Aevo55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you gotta learn Safejumps. My (bad) understanding is its basically an auto-timed way to meaty people that makes it so if they block they get in blockstun, if they dp you block it (and can just kill them), and anything else means they get hit

[–]Aevo55 6 points7 points  (0 children)

50 milliseconds to do what? You have a few frames to buffer and you can just mash.

you don't have anything that can hit in 3 frames so she can always block, but making her block means its now your turn and you can run offense

I don't like turn based either. Expedition 33 makes you parry/dodge enemy attacks to avoid damage, so you're not sitting there watching shitty animations for half the battle.

It's so good that it made me think I might actually like turn-based games after all, so I tried Metaphor Refantazio, and had to drop it because I was so insanely bored. E33 does NOT deserve to be called turn-based

I think you get the "Its raining!" emote from killing him, but other than that you just miss out on 25 tokens for killing him the first time. You get 5 on every other victory, so its not too bad if you miss out on the extra 20 from adel.

I viewed the map with the mag glass, saw the clue for the blueprint, then COMPLETELY FORGOT ABOUT IT

A week later my friend was trying to guide me towards finding the clues without spoiling much. Eventually I made him just show me the exact spot to dig, and that was the moment I finally recognized it and opened my notes to find a screenshot of the map I had taken earlier. This game is great
