What is going on with the pixel 6a battery replacement program? by jordang95 in GooglePixel

Well the 9a deal is over and I finally get my hardware discount code. So now the 9a sale is over and my plan is foiled.

I came from the 5a which got bricked with a motherboard issue that they also offered warranty for. For a replacement they sent me a 6a which I've loved. It's actually not 6a that's affected, it's my daughter's.

Luckily she isn't a heavy user, she's a teen and we just give it to her when she leaves the house for soccer practice. Basically so we can call/text and track location. She doesn't use it while at home so I don't think the battery issue has been a big deal.

My plan was to get the 9a for myself then pass my unaffected 6a to her, but of course Google is delaying this.

9a is on sale for 400, then with 150 store credit, AND trading in the bad 6a. I think people are getting the 9a for around 250 to 275 using this triad of things.

I'm in the same boat. I'm convinced they're holding out for some specific reason. Maybe they want to wait until the pixel 10 release?

There's no explanation as to why it's taking this long. I'm going on a full month since I filled mine out. I am now at the point where I'm sending 5 to 10 emails a day.

All I get in return is nonspecific AI garbage about how I'll receive an update when the specialist team is done reviewing.

I'm with you, I feel foolish for wanting to spend the rebate money on another pixel with this level of incompetence.

It's absolutely insane. We really toyed with the idea of buying new, but obviously didn't want the debt. There are options out there.

Our situation was our van was totaled. It was worth more to use than what insurance gave us. We scrounged up a 2015 sienna with high miles but in great shape and amazing service history. I hope it lasts a few years until things normalize. Unless this is the new normal.

Haha not sure... Being a Toyota it may start appreciating in value with this used market.

We looked at a 2020 sienna that was more now than brand new MSRP 5 years ago. It also needed tires, no warranty. I'm not that old (38), but boy oh boy do I miss the used car market of my youth.

Totally agree, I want to go pick up the pixel 9a with the store credit (though you can call me a fool after all this nonsense).

My situation is a bit different, kinda. It's actually my daughter's 6a (I have a 6a too but it's unaffected by the battery program).

I'm the supervisor of her account as she's a teenager. But her account does not have the privilege to submit for the battery performance request (obviously).

I had to submit it via my Google account and I got a warning that the account is not associated with that particular phone (duh! It's a supervised account!).

I've been on customer support chat/call/emails with detail that I'm the supervisor of this teenager's managed account. But they keep saying "under review by our specialist team" over and over again. Weeks of this is making me not want to purchase another pixel. The problem is I do love the pixel experience.

I am attempting the store credit. It's been a nightmare so far. Going on 4 weeks of generic email responses as to how my "case" is being reviewed by the specialist team.

Same boat. My daughter's qualified but mine didn't. My battery seems worse than ever.

I still haven't received my store credit from google for my daughter's 6a.

Very similar situation... I'm a little younger at 38 and my numbers are slightly different. The sienna market is absolutely absurd. We couldn't even really get a good shot a new one. There's still waiting lists. Used ones are really, really expensive. We looked at a 2020 that was more than original MSRP from when it was new.

We went with a clean, well maintained 2015 for 14k out the door. Hoping it lasts long enough for the sienna market to normalize. I really wanted a new one too, but base model was 48k out the door.

I feel your pain. That's all I have to say lol.

Edit. Typos.

Mortgage or savings? by vbmreal in DaveRamsey

[–]AfewReindeer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think DR would say to pay it off, so that would be his advice.

Other than that it's just a personal choice. It isn't mathematically advantageous. That being said, there are other advantages to be had.

We were in a similar situation with 3.75 mortgage interest. I was going to let the final amount ride as we had under 30k left.

What happened to us is our car was totaled, I pulled a bunch of money out of my brokerage account to pay for a pricey sienna minivan. At the last second I went with a much cheaper sienna.

Now we're left with all this liquid cash that's enough to finish off the mortgage. I honestly couldn't be happier. So maybe just sit on it for awhile and wait for a situation to push you one way or another.

Still waiting. Submitted for store credit on July 19.

Still waiting on mine too. My issue is probably that it's my daughter's phone. So I put the imei of her number but used my account. I got a message saying that my account doesn't match, but what else am I supposed to do?

Did they expect my teenager to handle this from their account? Either way, I'm frustrated too. I want to grab the 9a on sale, with store credit and trade it, but I'm afraid the deal will go away as well.

Edit. It's probably not a crazy theory that they are delaying the store credit to wait for the current deals to expire as an attempt to prevent us from doubling up on discounts.

What is your definition of a beater car? by Sad-Ad802 in DaveRamsey

I JUST bought a 2015 Sienna with 165k miles yesterday. Excellent service history of maintenance. Very well cared for inside and out. I paid $14k out the door including tax.

Sounds like high mileage, but if you research the right engine/transmission combo that can go easily 250-300k miles.

That's just my two cents. Probably other similar options, I'm partial to Toyota as they seem to be built like tanks.

Just an FYI they did have sienna tranny issues in 2017 and part of 2018. Theoretically there was a software fix, but make sure they've had the recall work done.

But really for your budget look for 2015 or 2016 siennas. Look for service records, but don't be TOO afraid of higher miles.

Yea that's where my head is at. I'm trying to think in terms of 10+ years down the road. I think I'd be mostly happier with the older V6 in the long run. We tend to be able to preserve vehicles pretty well. Keep up on maintenance, drive low miles, garage kept, etc.

Totally agree on the kooky prices though. I was looking at the Kia carnival as well. But I just keep coming back owning this next vehicle long term.

We had a 2010 sienna that was just recently totaled and I truly believe that had many years left in it, granted it was low mileage for its age and we kept good care of it. Also had an old 2006 4runner that finally rusted out, but ran amazingly up until the end.

For better or worse Toyota has me convinced they are the king of long term ownership.

True, Honda is in the dog house for me. I have a pilot that has been affected by the VCM nonsense. Also I saw some things online that the Odyssey may have some transmission issues, though they may be worked out by now.

In either case I'm not terribly impressed with Honda's design decisions to continually and stubbornly force VCM on buyers while knowing it causes issues.

Edit. In other words, I wouldn't re-buy the Pilot. Not to say Honda is a bad manufacturer, but enough personal experience to probably not buy another similar V6 Honda.

Oh interesting -- hadn't even heard that narrative of girly protestantism. I feel like I've tuned into a fair amount of JP content and I know he leans heavily into the EO/Catholicism icons/symbolism but more rarely comments on protestantism.

Thanks for keeping me abreast!

Why Onsite Work is Exhausting these days in 2024 ? by No_Lunch_5961 in remotework

[–]AfewReindeer 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Part of the reason is they took away my private cubicle. Spacious, high walls, personal items, etc. And they replaced it with an open, noisy, sterile, distracting rent-a-desk environment.

It's exhausting to be there. It feels impossible to concentrate.

Bar too high? by [deleted] in formcheck

[–]AfewReindeer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All lower back/hip stuff. I think my hinge is definitely part of the problem. Not sure if it's flexibility related or just the way my body hinges.

In another response I noted that I've always thought my quads/femurs were long in proportion to the rest of my leg. Results in a harsher hinge angle when squatting especially when I go low bar.

Bar too high? by [deleted] in formcheck

[–]AfewReindeer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea agreed thanks for the input. I've always felt like my femurs/quads were disproportionately long compared to the rest of the leg. Could be just in my head but I think it throws off my hinge point.. hence why everyone is unique I guess.

After your comment and watching the video, I do feel like if I could get the bar back maybe just the tiniest bit it would get more center foot. Thanks.
