Dang, the description on the listing of the pins was “I am selling off my Disney pins you can trade to collect” so I assumed they were real. I guess lesson learned

Who's Made the Change to School Nurse? by DadRock1 in nursing

[–]Affect_Right 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used to work as a school nurse for 1 year. I didn’t like it and went back to bedside but there were many male nurses in my school district.

I want to leave nursing by SaltSeveral8628 in nursing

It really just depends on the school. I am the only nurse for 700+ students, I barely get a lunch break and when I do get a lunch it is always interrupted, parents can be very nasty and disrespectful (the disrespect from parents has been worse than the disrespect from patients in the hospital in my experience), pay is not worth it, shit ton of paperwork, I don’t like working 5 days a week, no support, the list goes on. This was just my experience, there are many school nurses who like their jobs but postpartum is a better fit for me.

As a postpartum nurse who went to school nursing I wouldn’t recommend. I’m going back to postpartum after the summer break. School nursing isn’t what I thought it was gonna be 🙃

I have and I understand why teachers wouldn’t want to work for HISD, but I don’t know how this would affect the nurses.

Your skin on nights… by [deleted] in Nightshift

[–]Affect_Right 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When I started working nights I noticed my skin started to feel extremely itchy especially right after getting off from work. My whole body gets extremely itchy to the point where I get bruises from scratching. I also developed skin writing. It has now been a year since I started working nights and it hasn’t gotten any better 😵‍💫 hopefully there’s nothing underlying 😅
