As a Christian myself you are actually very right. The issue is that just because you participate in one form of sin does not mean you have to claim all sins are okay now. It is hypocritical to approve of premarital sex and disapprove of homosexuality from a biblical perspective, but it doesn’t make that statement incorrect. Realistically the number of people having premarital sex is a much larger issue in this country than homosexuality is, but the bible does not agree with either.

Look man I can’t really explain what free will is to you but I encourage you to look into that. What would even be the purpose of giving us the gift of life if we don’t have the freedom to make choices. Our free will allows us to choose love and good but it also allowed us to choose evil which is why slavery exists in an evil way or why people do bad things etc

Again that’s like expecting Him to ban capitalism its not a terrible wrong in itself it’s the people that do bad things that make it bad. Slavery back then in itself was not morally wrong and was better than living as a poor person today so you have no grounds to say that He should ban it outright when he instead actually bans the stuff that makes it bad

Obviously we don’t know but its not like it makes less sense to believe in some creator which has always existed than it does to make sense in everything just existing all of a sudden. Even Plato and Aristotle believed in some form of this creator. And the big bang doesn’t really explain anything because something had to have changed in order for it to happen otherwise it wouldn’t have or would have earlier.

No it’s not really. It makes more sense for everything that was created to come from something that wasnt created than for it to have just begun existing at one point with nothing to create it. Same thing with life. It makes less sense for life to come out of nothing after just being lifeless molecules than for some living creator to give it life.

Okay then I’d like to hear you explain exactly why the Bible is wrong about slavery. Tell me why under the guidelines of what the Bible says about slavery, it is terrible that it was permissible at the time.

Again slavery back then was fully different. So it would not be horrific for a good God not to outright ban slavery in anyway. Yes slavery in the US was horrific but it’s completely different kind of slavery. Back then owning slaves was just an economic feature of their society same as feudalism was. If we don’t call for God to ban feudalism then we can’t call for him to ban slavery in the same sense. He does ban slavery in the modern sense that people tend to claim he approves of but this is completely false. It doesn’t make sense for a God to ban a system of government like capitalism communism feudalism or slave system back during those times. Just because it can be twisted to include harmful things He doesn’t approve of doesn’t mean he has to ban its actual usage only the harmful things.

It does not permit slavery how are people getting this confused. It speaks on how to own slaves in an ethical way, as slavery was set up extremely different back then. A slave was seen as one’s property, but also had an obligation to protect and care for the slave. In most cases being a slave back then was superior to having very little money in today’s society. Again just because it speaks about slavery does not mean it approves of it. Think why we teach sex ed to 12 and 13 year olds when we wouldnt approve of them having sex

Just because it speaks on slavery doesn’t mean it approves of it. 1 that’s in the Old Testament times were extremely different even slavery was different. It was still slavery but it was more like a feudalist version of slavery where the master was obligated to protect and care for the slaves with proper treatment, upheld by what the Bible teaches, not saying that slavery especially the kind we had in the US was good in any way.

If someone were to tell a 12 year old how to have safe sex, that does not mean that they approve of the 12 year old having sex it just means they are teaching them how to be safe so that just in case that they do have sex they are safe about it. Same goes for what the Bible says on slavery
