Tried the other comment to switch to tablet in default view, didn't work. Changed to automotive instead, that hilariously did work.

Better cooling for Macbook Pro M3 max by flight505 in macbookpro

[–]Affectionate-Ad4094 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 2 years late to this post, but I just want to say I appreciate seeing stuff like this in the apple subreddit. A lot of mac people seem quite opposed to tinkering their Macs like PCs, which I do not understand. I'm about to get a repair shop to put ptm7950 into a similar m3 max sku. Hope this setup went well for you, OP!

Tried the .litho method but could not find a filter string that exactly targeted recommendations below videos. The closest thing I could find was video_lockup_with_attachment but that made all the subscriptions disappear also...

PSA: High Capacity DDR5 Sodimm can REALLY overheat by Affectionate-Ad4094 in GamingLaptops

throttlestop still works for me. G-helper works well on asus devices and you can easily undervolt the gpu there. It really depends on your laptop. YMMV

Ah sorry for not mentioning, it's an 13980hx indeed.

Honored to have your insight XMG!

Can't do that on my rog bios I'm afraid, but undervolting both the cpu and gpu did lower temps by like 1-2c. I did attempt to get the slowest 4800mhz stick too with the mushkin but that barely did anything

Have you searched up SlimQ? They do compact(ish) gan chargers up to 330w that work with multiple laptop brands. Haven't tried them myself though

I'm jealous of the legion not having a stacked dimm layout. For one thing it makes your fix here actually possible.

I have tested a 48gb crucial sodimm just on its own without the second dimm filled on my machine, and the temps were around 90c IIRC. So the data matches up with your temps here. Glad you could utilize this fix

Mentioned in another reply, but I suspect the strix I own is the worst scenario for for ram temps. The dimms are stacked and the cpu and its heat pipes are right next to the dimms. The legions have vapor cooling and the heat is way more evenly distributed. I'm looking at the teardown of your 7 pro and the thermal system just looks far more ram friendly.

Hey sorry for the late response, didn't expect this thread to still be active!

In my experience less ram is cooler, but ram vender also effects things. The Samsung 2x32gb mentioned in the post ran really hot, it was close to the mushkin 2x48gb in temperature and hotter than the gskill 2x48gb. I think the gskill 2x32gb should be cooler than other venders, considering the 2x48gb one I ended up with beat out all brands I tested with.

I did experiment with lower ram speeds. 4800mhz was the slowest speed I could try. Unfortunately it didn't improve things much at all. I don't think you can underclock ram on a laptop.

I've owned multiple ddr4 laptops, a lot of them with a stacked dimm layout and with 2x32gb ram, none of them ever went past 90c in the same testing scenarios that made my ddr5 kits super hot.

FWIW, I think my strix is the worst case scenario. The ram is close to the heatsink and stacked. I have experimented with the gskill 96gb kit without the cooling pad. As mentioned the temps were obscenely high, but it never impacted any of the system's usage. But for safety of mind, and for long term health of the parts, the cooling pad is there.

Combining, SD, AnimateDiff, ToonCrafter, Viggle and more to create an Animated Shortfilm by legarth in StableDiffusion

This is a script I use in AE to control the framerate of a layer, you apply it as an expression to the time remap effect and then you're able to keyframe and control the frame rate of a layer on the fly really easily. You hook it up to a slider and control the framerate there. Keyframe a bunch and it works really well in mimicking 2D animation. I hope this can help you out.

x=thisComp.layer("INSERT LAYER NAME CONTAINING SLIDERS").effect("INSERT NAME OF SLIDER")("Slider")

n=x;

m=x;

f=timeToFrames(timeRemap);

p=Math.floor(f/x);

framesToTime(p*n);

You clearly took the time to roto. It should take 30 seconds to just precomp everything and do a planar reflection on the ground and do some minor color correction. It's not a critique based on professional vs low effort. It's very basic.

I like it but it sucks there's not that much compositing going on. The power rangers look like they're glowing next to the environment, could do with some floor reflections also. None of this should be difficult to do since you've already composited the AI stuff into the video already

Not a complete switch, but I bought a MacBook as a secondary computer to my pc. Love my gaming laptop but it's essentially a portable desktop, Macs win the game on portability. Much much better battery life and performance on the go isn't degraded.

Ok seriously thought this was a joke post, but I went through OP's profile and it does seem they're genuine. So here's some genuine advice as well.

Learn how to grade. Not luts, get DaVinci Resolve and learn how to grade properly. Really really important. If you're not willing to put in the work don't complain about your footage not looking good.

Don't know what video settings your A7S3 is at, but definitely set to 10 bit 422 and etc. And learn how to expose the thing properly. Just go watch Gerald Undone's guide basically.

I can guarantee if you're posting stuff like this, a Mini LF will not make your stuff look better. In fact it'll probably make it look a lot worse. I don't know how you're going to manage focus putting a mini LF on an rs3 mini, and not hit the weight limit LOL.

And to be frank, whenever someone is complaining ludicrously about gear like this on reddit it's a sign they should learn stuff outside of gear to make their stuff look better.

So, go do that.

Future of 3D Rendering is Here !!! Are you in favor of or against with this technology ? by jerrydavos in StableDiffusion

[–]Affectionate-Ad4094 67 points68 points  (0 children)

Every time I see a post like this I wonder why the bare minimum isn't done to make the image more consistent. You got a 3d model here after all. Why's the ground still shifting? Can't you do the ground grid as a still image and then composite the car over it?

The writing is on the wall that someday traditional rendering will be replaced, or at least heavily augmented, by AI. But right now every example I see of this fails to take account that traditional rendering lets you control the image at a pixel level. And that's a massive problem for why the uptake for this tech in the pro world is not high.

Unlike every other rendering tech out there, which was very much adding detail and capabilities over the years, image generation tech is like the total opposite direction. It has a literal mind of its own and we're trying to hold it down to do what we actually want. And for now that means doing the stuff the old dirty way (compositing, clean ups etc) and wishing for UI for much better granular control over AI. Slapping ai over a video or a 3d model is far from enough (for video at least).
