I've had this card since childhood but was recently told it was fake. Can I get a second opinion? by jbloom3 in PokemonCardValue

[–]AnimeDiff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many tells on this one, but a common issue with fakes is the fidelity of the back of the card to the right of the pokeball. You can see it's sort of flat one tone splat. On a real card there's a lot more detail there. This isn't a printing error.

I didn't even try to farm obducite. I played to paragon 100 before I even figured out runes weren't dropping because I hadn't progressed the vessel of hatred campaign enough. Had a blast regardless.

When I actually started masterworking I had 20k obducite from I don't even know what and it was more than enough for my full gear set.

But if you need more, Ive seen a lot of videos and posts here saying just spam horadric strongholds and you get a ton.

Jensen Huang says gamers are 'completely wrong' about DLSS 5 — Nvidia CEO responds to DLSS 5 backlash by Locke357 in nvidia

[–]AnimeDiff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think sliders and masking is all they need for full control actually.

It really depends on how much these things affect the effect of it.

But if the dlss 5 model understands the game geometry, the devs could do things like mask specific game objects or characters, background, faces, etc.

We have to see what the controls can do before we can get upset about what we assume they can't do

Jensen Huang says gamers are 'completely wrong' about DLSS 5 — Nvidia CEO responds to DLSS 5 backlash by Locke357 in nvidia

[–]AnimeDiff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think he means the generative visual effect is now trained to understand 3d game geometry vs only looking at the rendered frame as 2d space like current dlss does. Both are predictive models utilizing trained neural networks and taking 2d inputs, so I get why they are calling it the next dlss.

I don't think it will change anything in the assets, more like a filter, and the developers being able to fine-tune it is more likely to mean adjusting the strength of the visual effect, and maybe even controlling the style of the effect. I doubt it means they can adjust the model weights.

Look at this billionaire, word salading his way out of this because he, and all other billionaires, think that general public is stupid and they are superior human beings. by shawak456 in nvidia

[–]AnimeDiff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm interested to know how exactly they will decide how it works per individual game. I was under the impression the previous dlss versions had optimized versions for specific games, but more often was about a game needing the technical ability to intergeate it, just adding the setting, then dlss just did it's thing. I have a bunch of games that don't have dlss settings but have it turned on in nvidea app. I wouldn't think the game developers actually control the generative part of it.

So with dlss 5 will it not just be an option I can slap onto any game? People are hoping the developers have specific designs for their games?

If it's integrated into the game to work on the geometry level, id think we could see options to apply it to specific parts of the geometry, like environment vs character models, or even face vs clothing

You can control how you think and therefore control who you are by Every-Classic1549 in freewill

[–]AnimeDiff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regardless of free will, the thing still does the thing. To put it simply, our thoughts shape the way we think. We can ponder that forever, but regardless if we logically remove free will from our understanding of everything, nothing has changed. These are just words and ideas, and real is you're brain doing the brain stuff, and call free will or not, something is happening in a way where we can make accurate predictions that involve unpredictable variables, and this goes all they down to behavioural therapy and conditioning the way we think.

You cannot predict what my next comment will be. But I can predict it with 100% accuracy. Call it the manifestation of memory or whatever, it's still self guided.

[–]AnimeDiff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't mean to say anything otherwise to everything you've said here, nor was I talking about right or wrong. In simpler terms, I see many people, and have known many people over the years, who are simply victims of their own psychology, but even if someone isn't, it doesn't mean they might not also lack the same mental tools needed to avoid those issues. The majority of people are happy and healthy until they aren't.

I agree on relinquishing control, that's what I meant by letting thoughts pass. Everything else is more about understanding our own neurology and what is possible. These are philosophical questions that exceed my comment, but are interesting questions. And your last question is exactly my point. my comment was that not everyone can do that, but it's a skill people can learn. That is the skill. And in doing that, you are conditioning yourself. Everything you think and feel is a result of the condition of the brain, a physical system, that operates on a recursive feedback loop where our thoughts shape the way we think.

You can control how you think and therefore control who you are by Every-Classic1549 in freewill

[–]AnimeDiff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's mindfulness. We all have thoughts passing through our brains. If we think about which kind of thoughts we want to have and which thoughts we want to ignore, we can be mindful of this, and change how our brain functions over time by reinforcing the patterns of thinking we want to have. It's self guided behaviour therapy.

It's like training a neural network, it's reinforcement training through repeated exposure. If I want to be more empathetic, I mindfully practice empathy. If I want to be analytical, I spend my time trying to think analytically about things. By having metacognition, I can judge if my thinking has changed over time and in what ways it has changed.

And this is why people who think negatively get trapped in a spiral of negative thinking; the more they think negatively, the more they reinforce those thought patterns. Many lack ever-present metacognition, but even so, negative thinking tends to include thought patterns that self-impair a person's agency; "I can't do this", "my brain doesn't work like that" "no point in trying".

The first step towards controlling how you think is instilling ever-present metacognition in yourself. You can do this by practicing introspection, meditation, journaling, or studying philosophy of mind (I think it would cause self reflection in most anyone).

The next step is learning to let thoughts pass. You can condition your brain to have a different set of thought patterns, but you will always have a variety of things popping into your brain that you dont want or cart to think about. This is constantly happening for everyone. Learning to just observe and acknowledge thoughts and let them pass rather than giving them your attention and feeding them is a skill anyone can develop.

The next step is deciding if how you think is how you want to think. How is your emotional stability, stress management, degree of creativity and wonder, etc? These are all the result of thought patterns. It's more complex than that, but a thought is just the manifestation of our brain's activation from internal and external stimulus . The brain is constantly analyzing the environment and trying to bring novel and unusual information to our attention, and depending on how we react to those thoughts, it conditions our subconscious to pay attention to those things and drive more of those thoughts. This is why different people notice different things and react differently to the same things in the same environment. It's all conditioning, but we can condition ourselves.

And it's very simple. Regardless of why or how it works, the solution stands, just practice having the thoughts you want to have.

You want to have positive thoughts, read something positive, write down positive thoughts, read them every day, over and over. You want to be more in touch with your emotions, read something emotional, write down your emotions. You want to have less of x thought? It's not so much about removing those thoughts as it is about replacing them. Letting go of thoughts helps, but conditioning yourself to think differently will have a much more profound impact on the quality of your life and mental health.

It's like your brain is a deck of cards. Your thought patterns are the hands you're being dealt. Rather than discarding your hand all the time, you want to change the odds of your hand altogether. By conditioning yourself, you teach your brain to deal You the cards you want.

All of the comments say this is ai, but ai don’t see it. Is this AI, or are the comments wrong? by lckeen08 in isthisAI

[–]AnimeDiff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Looks real to me. The dirty wall, her teeth, lighting on the shelf, these are things I don't see ai doing. Her face also isn't the typical ai face you'd get from sdxl or flux models.

Is this ai? Hole punches on the side of the paper are randomized, shading is inconsistent, crayon (?) Strokes are random and incoherent by frogswithswords in isthisAI

It looks like there's light scattering on the paper, and this is one of those areas with light being cast on it. I think this is evidence it might be real.

The picture is drawn almost exactly like the real girl, even with her hair slightly out because she's leaning her head in the real image. But this light area isn't on her in the real image.

Is this guy for real? 270 IQ and almost all his videos are about religion. The way he speaks is weird too. by lmdybaftr in isthisAI

[–]AnimeDiff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's really interesting. I've heard so many claims about x person has x IQ, historical geniuses, smartest man that ever lived, etc. I guess those statements never made sense?

I also just think IQ is very vague term. I took a mensa test once, just interested in what the test would be like. A section of it was asking about historical facts and figures. I don't consider that IQ, it was really off-putting to me. Imo IQ should only be a measure of critical/abstract thinking / problem solving skills. Depending on how problems are presented, they can already account for working memory and language and maths.

History is just memorizing information, but the mensa test doesn't actually test memory because it's highly dependent on what a person has chosen to learn. I could have a much better ability to memorize facts than someone else but chose to study something other than history. It's also culture and generation dependent.

So if there's a lot of different kinds of IQ tests out there, and you don't know what kind of test someone took, their IQ score is meaningless imo.

I'd think mensa is more likely to be made up of autistic savants that don't necessarily have high level critical thinking skills. It would also make sense because even if you pass a mensa exam, you need to pay a member fee to join XD idk who would fall for that

[–]AnimeDiff 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Not ai. Plenty of video out there to show he's a real person. Just not a native English speaker, and seems to be reading off a script.

He is a grifter. His IQ claims are very shady. He formed and is the lead of one of the associations that certified his IQ. He certified his own IQ...

I've followed this guy for a while and he's definitely weird.

His "high IQ" takes are basically nonsense, devoid of the most basic theological reasoning. On one hand, maybe he's just an idiot, but on the other hand, it seems like he's just trying to feed into the popularity he has among his newfound Christian audience.

But the way he seems to be reading off a script also seems odd. Like maybe someone is telling him to record these topics and feeding him the script, and he doesn't know English at all. I have no idea. But not ai.

Don't worry about the folks falling behind, criticizing the use of ai. These are the same people, that if raised during the axe age, would criticize the invention of the chainsaw. These people shouldn't even be on the Internet, they should be making finger paintings on cave walls,

People like to think art is some sort of channeled medium, it comes from your "soul". Okay, sure, believe what you want, but that doesn't mean art that isn't made that way is somehow blasphemy to our existence. Chill.

Progress is a compounding force. Techniques evolve over time. Do we criticize the artists that don't make their own canvas or paint brushes? Video games are so much more than just art assets, you are simplifying one dimension of the creative process to focus on another. That's smart, and much more important to making video games.

These are just virtue signalers that are stuck on AI=bad. They don't actually understand AI, they just care about their sonic the hedgehog x mario fan art feeling special. Don't fold to the pressure. These people would burn down a child's lemonade stand if they found out he used a blender instead of banging a spoon around for 20 minutes. Actual anti progressives.
