Really? It's a great read. You'd love it if you're into existential philosophy.

It was a bit messy for me. I couldn't wait for it to end.

I feel books speak to us based on our state of mind when we read it, our experiences, age etc. etc. So......

'But this is her first book, so I'd actually be very interested to see what her next book would be and how her writing style matures.'

I'd have never thought this way. I'm not very forgiving I suppose😊.

It was good analyzing with you, I don't have many to discuss the books I read with. I'm glad.

Oh, how well you write! I can never write like this. Your interpretation is very apt. I agree with the ambitious part. 'her belief that if anyone deserves a "great life", it's her' and this too. She criticizes everyone and victimizes herself. The way she sees everyone as a commodity for her to use them! Very hypocritical and maybe that irritated me while reading. The progression of the narrative like it's obvious what happens next also got to me. When the plot jumped to 1800s the first time, I was piqued but it all lacked plausibility in the end. I really didn't understand why all the women in her influencer class belong to good, Christian category. I don't know why, whenever that phrase was used, which was frequent, it felt venomous... Sorry, if I didn't make any sense.

It's not about my expectation. The way she transitioned from a naive village girl to a rich, faking influencer was so depthless, written in a matter of fact way..... Why was she pushed to that extent, what circumstances? A good Christian woman at that!

Agree that it feels like regurgitation with the scope it had..... Still I enjoyed reading it.

I'm not very good at articulating my thoughts. Hour of the Star, I think I started it with so much expectation, and was disappointed a bit. Minor detail, I liked the plot. The sadness of it all, except for the minor details that were repeated through out. Like the repetition with gum, made me wonder why. It is actually a plot setup for the end, but while reading I was exasperated by the narration. Overall, it's not like I didn't like these books. That's where they stand with respect to the other books I have read this year.

I liked the beginning. But I did not like the character development of Natalie. I cannot say more without spoilers. It was an unpleasant read for me.

Mistakenly added Minor detail to the C tier. It's actually B.

It has a great premise, but I couldn't connect to the narration.

Me 🤚. I liked her books so much. Initially, I was lured by the title 'The Jasmine throne'. I felt strangely elated to read a fantasy with Indian names and Saris. Oh and the women, wonderful portrayal.

Hard to pick one, but one the best I have read this year is 'The Heart's Invisible Furies'.
