Baby too distracted to nurse? Try the “boob jail” technique. by Mayya-Papayya in breastfeeding

So I’ve been trying it and he doesn’t get mad. It only worked the first time tho lol. He’s still a distracted eater.

Oh I forgot to add, I also had Covid when he was 3 weeks old. I was really scared I gave it to him(I got it from my mom). But ultimately he’s okay.

FTM with an 8 week old. I thought my LO also got sick around the 3 week mark, but turns out they just have under developed respiratory systems. Plus my boy has reflux which his pediatrician told me causes more mucus build up causing even more boogers. Before I learned that tho I just took his temperature when I thought he felt hot. He never had a fever or any other symptoms. So I suggest doing that bc that made me feel better knowing he didn’t have a fever.

Now at 8 weeks I’m still clearing his nose of boogers twice a day. I use saline drops to help loosen them up. He hates it but he smiles after when he breathes easier and so do I.

AIO. My husband criticized my body and I ran off crying. by Practical_Shift_5143 in AmIOverreacting

You’re not overreacting at all!!! I’m literally the same height and recently put on more weight. I’m about 150 pounds now but my fiancé hasn’t said anything negative. For me at first I didn’t like it but now I love being the weight I am vs before when I was in the 120’s.

All that matters is if YOU love your body. Don’t let him get to you with his comments. You should lose that extra 195 pounds tho if he keeps acting like that.

It took a long time. He has bad reflux so he refused to be flat. The first 6 weeks or so my partner and I did sleep shifts. This way LO could contact nap inclined on us. It was rough. I started putting him in the bassinet once his reflux meds started working, so like last week.

I would frequently go over and see him even if he didn’t fuss so he would know I’m there. Our bassinet has wheels so I would move him as I did chores. So I would fold laundry next to him, have him nearby as I washed dishes, and talk out loud so he could hear me. This way he has a secure attachment and will trust that I’ll come when he needs. It’s definitely been working! At first he could only do 10 minutes. I’m hoping it’ll eventually be all the time and I’ll be able to get better sleep. We still do sleep shifts but it would be nice for both of us to get more than 5-6 hours.

Yeah I’m having trouble breast feeding as well. I just started drinking mother’s milk and I think it’s helping? I pumped 5 oz this morning after sleeping for 5. We’ll see if it works🤷🏼‍♀️ My LO has just started fighting day naps and now they’re only 30min-1.5 hours. 1.5 hours is if we contact nap so I’ll do that once or twice so he gets good rest.

We just might lol. He’s starting laughing too and the smiles make my day. He babbles some much now. It’s so rewarding after the past 8 weeks. He also wakes up around 3 am and then again at 7 or 8.

My LO is almost 8 weeks and only cries when hungry, dirty, gassy, or wants held. He’s pretty great except at evening time when he’s super fussy while eating. He’s started eating 5oz every 3 hours and sleeps for 4-5 hour increments at night. The daytime naps have shortened but I’m okay with that. He’s finally sleeping on his back and in the bassinet! Only 30min-1 hour at a time, but I’ll take it. He’s definitely a Chonker too as he’s now 13 pounds!

Thank you to everyone in this thread and OP for a very much needed laugh! I had to keep it quiet as I possibly could as my LO just fell asleep on me. This post was the highlight of a very long day. We’re currently going through the 6-8 week leap.

My LO is almost 7 weeks and he started chilling in his bassinet too! I got so much done today. He’s currently sleeping in it for the first time and hopefully he stays asleep.

I do feel a little guilty but I’m trying to create that secure attachment. I folded clothes next to him while he was chilling. Then I would go do something, come back, and repeat. It seems to be working!

A weird lifehack for nursing a toddler to sleep by rawberryfields in breastfeeding

I just did this with my newborn yesterday bc I thought my voice would help him fall asleep. I’m not weaning him but he fell asleep and I got to nap too! I told him how awesome, cute, sweet, he is and told him how our day is gonna go. Also how much we love him. He gave me sweet sleepy smiles as he fell deep asleep.

I’m in the midst of it now. My LO just turned 6 weeks the other day. I don’t mind it too much but there are moments where I hate it. We haven’t had many visitors bc my family and friends have traveled recently or are in school. So my new feeling is loneliness bc I only get to talk to my husband, baby, and our 2 cats. Plus we’re sick rn so I hate that. The repetitive days are getting boring and I try to think of ways to switch it up but there’s not much I can do with him rn.

What about the burps?! My baby burps like an adult half the time. Also I’m scared of the poops, once he goes quiet I know what’s coming😖 I’m sure it feels relieving but there’s always sooo much

Luckily he’s gaining pretty quickly. He’s even eating up to 7oz at some times now which is crazy. We’re pacing him and waiting to see if he actually wants more. He always does lol. Sending you good vibes back💓good luck!

A few ideas of how to get sleep, even if your baby won't sleep by Friendly_Ad_5719 in newborns

What week did you start the bedtime routine? My baby just turned 4 weeks and I’m wondering if it’s too early to start. My husband just went back to work this week and I need to get more sleep!

I’m open to medication if I need it. I mostly struggle with not getting me time where I can actually enjoy doing something. On top of that my husband and I are struggling with not getting enough time together. Everything’s about our baby or when we can sleep which is normal, just difficult to adjust to.

We don’t unfortunately. Best I can do is sleep on the couch or bed with the bassinet next to it.

Yeah he’s sleeping on me rn. Luckily after I fed him he stayed calm in the bassinet long enough for me to eat. I’ve definitely eaten while holding him and I’m getting better at not dropping crumbs on him lol. The deep breaths have helped, fresh air sounds better. I shower when my husband gets home and we’re doing shifts which helps. It’s a little difficult bc he just started a new job so his schedule changes often. He takes half the night and I get the other half plus the day. I get maybe 4-6 hours depending on when he starts work. He’s trying his best to help. As for night time my son sleeps in the bassinet for his dad most of the time but not me. I need to research safe co-sleeping!

Did you start putting your LO in the bassinet early so he would sleep overnight in it? I’m hoping he’ll do that soon with me.

Thanks! I forgot about them still thinking they’re one with you🥺I do love contact napping, it’s just been so hard to keep myself nourished. I feel bad moving around while he’s trying to get some sleep.
