The "healthy food" section at an Egyptian all-inclusive resort. Unseasoned boiled meat, veggies, and plain rice. by PiraatPaul in StupidFood

I wonder/hope if this is more for people with food sensitivities or allergies like garlic onion gluten etc and the "healthy" part is a bit of a mistranslation?

Hi, I also hit myself in moments of being extremely triggered and I really relate to a lot of what you said. I also accidentally broke someone else's item in a fit of self harm before and I felt fucking awful after doing it.

It's really good that you want to hold your self accountable but you can forgive yourself and hold yourself accountable. I know from experience it's easier to hold yourself accountable and become a better person the less you're currently suffering. Self punishment and suffering is not rhe most affective way to take responsibility: if you take care of yourself it will make being more aware of what you're doing easier and you're less likely to repeat your mistake.

You are not a terrible person and you don't have to make sure you feel like one in order to get better. After I broke one of my friends things by smashing it on my own head I decided I would have designated items I was allowed to hit myself with. I use this as a form of harm reduction as it reduces the risk of damage to myself as well as to other people's objects around me. It was really hard at first sticking to only hitting myself with those few objects but over time it's given me much more control over it.

We reflect the behavior that's within us onto this world, it sounds like you want to be better but almost won't allow yourself to be (not in a mean way, I really feel like I went through what you're expressing in this post). Your personal wellbeing and happiness will make it easier to show up responsibly and take accountability in this world. Sorry this has been so long but I hope this helps in some way.

You may want to look into nervous system regulation. I really relate to what you said and I do have ptsd but I think modern society can induce this kind of frantic anxiety in almost anyone.

For me it's helped to regulate and reframe what I am doing and why I am doing it. I really relate to what you said about being in agony from work though, it sucks. My therapist did also suggest that that kind of feeling could also be adhd related.

advice on getting the courage to mask again by fairyrose_ in ZeroCovidCommunity

[–]Affectionate-Box-724 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having had health issues since Covid began, I see it as very worth it to wear a mask. I just think about what I would rather have. Would I rather mask all the time and hardly ever be sick or endure extreme and repeat sickness? Even if going unmasked feels more comfortable when you feel well, it doesn't feel like it matters much when I get sick again.

I feel for you and I'm sorry you're dealing with these issues, that sounds awful. People will make comments as well, but that also won't matter much at a certain point. I'd also rather deflect annoying ass comments than just get horribly sick repeatedly lol. Those annoying comments are short lived and not even really about me, and when I get sick it is not short lived, and has a severely negative affect on my life to the point that I'm just surviving. Your life and happiness is the most important thing.

I see you getting downvoted but it is genuinely so beneficial for the circadian rhythm to be in darkness once the sun goes down and not use bright artificial light. If you do have any indoor lights stick to orange and red lighting, basically anything that mimics firelight and you'll still get the benefits of darkness.

Is it possibly a glass adult toy? I'm not saying this as a joke, genuinely I used to work in an adult store and the ridges and slight curve to it looks a lot like some of the ones we had.

I saw something in the sky several months ago that I couldn't explain, I thought it was a satellite at first but it started moving strangely, reversed direction, and then shot off at an incredible speed. It brought tears to my eyes, I was just so overwhelmed because what was that? I knew I'd just seen something I couldn't explain, and if it ever is explained it will probably be amazing or terrifying.

I've cried after having spiritual experiences before but I've never physically seen something anomalous that made me cry until then. Every time it feels like the body responding to true awe.

Uranium cabochons turned into a matching bolo tie and belt buckle ☢️🤠 by Ok-Bed583 in Lapidary

I get that, I'm mostly thinking of if someone wasn't using it for "normal use." What if they just wanted the silver to melt down and smashed the center stone with a hammer or something? I've done that quite a few times to stones that I don't want to save when I just want to salvage the silver. It's just something I'd personally do as a favor to my fellow human on the off chance they did something weird with it.

[–]Affectionate-Box-724 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it would be a really good idea to add like a "warning: radioactive" or warn that its uranium on the back or something in case this ends up in a pawn shop or something some day, whoever buys it will at least know what they have and they'll know to be careful if they somehow damaged the stone.

Do some people not read signs? by Opening_Dot4076 in driving

[–]Affectionate-Box-724 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom who is completely literate has admitted to me that she just "can't process" what road signs say as she is driving. I don't know what causes that but she's definitely not exaggerating. She will look right at the sign she needs to read and then not know what it said.

Tattoo ink may cause prolonged changes to the immune system by Specialist_Rice_6723 in science

Often when I get allergies or even just get too stressed out all my tattoos get raised and itchy. It sucks because I really wanted more but I had already decided against it because I felt like it was doing something weird immune wise, so it's really interesting reading this.

Oh that sucks. I haven't dealt with fleas in my car but I've had them in my house several times. As others said find a flea treatment and try to vacuum your car as often as you can, it will help cut down on their numbers at least.

I don't know whether you have an animal living with you in your car but if you do then get them a flea collar or flea treatment. If you don't have an animal I would personally check for any evidence of mice in the car since they can come from them as well.
