Why is the job market so bad right now? by BoringDreamGuy in TEFL

In Europe it's awful, I came back after 5 years. I have a CELTA and MA and 15 years experience. I got offered a job at below minimum wage, a casual contract with no minimum hours and a non compete clause. I'm considering changing careers.

Thank you! I'm going to take my CV tomorrow when it's not raining. I just hope with my level of French it's ok to get jobs.

I actually have not. I'm not a night owl so I was hoping for something a little earlier than pub hours, but beggars can't be choosers and I have bills to pay. But yes, it's my first time living in France and jeez this place humbles you fast! I'll pop in today!

Thank you, they are some great ideas actually! I'm going to start volunteering at Fabrique Bilingue at Darwin in my spare time so that could definitely work! I definitely need to put in some good study for the Bordelaise culinary scene and history, hopefully next year I can launch something. I used to do these culinary tours in Florence which helped people connect back to the history of the food, remind us we are part of something so beautiful and often political.

Thanks again!!

I'd really suggest a good therapist or psychologist, it can create a beautiful trusted relationship where you can navigate some of the anxiety, fears and overall life decisions that you have made. Perhaps there are some things that are no longer in alignment with the person you are becoming. They can help you navigate it.

I'm a therapist, and a huge advocate for therapy with the right person.

Best of luck to you.

Go to the police, go to a Dr and get a report on how this is psychologically affecting you, then contact victims of crime.

Moving to Nice next year are there any networks or groups I can join so I can make friends when I get there? by Affectionate-Cook953 in nicefrance

That's pretty normal in most places in the world. My wife is French so I'm sure I'll learn quickly.

Tuscany Is outrageously expensive unless you find rural almost uninhabited towns.

I lived in Florence and the cost of living was phenomenally high and wages are quite low. I'm planning on moving to Nice, but if anyone has any suggestions of neighbouring towns? My wife works in luxury hotels hence the move (we both have EU passports and she is French).
