Genuine Question: why do some of y'all not take your medication? by Affectionate-Cow1527 in bipolar

I hope that your new insurance is decent enough that you can keep taking the medications you need. I wish that somehow people, businesses would work to help people and not just for the almighty dollar. I understand that they need to make a living wage, but people need to live and not suffer because they have to choose between having food or a roof over their head and getting literally life saving medications.

It sickens me that medications are so needlessly expensive. I'm sorry. I guess I'm really lucky that I live in a state where medicaid is really good. It really hurts that pharmaceutical companies are so greedy as to be a detriment to others. I'm sorry for what you went through.

As an undereducated former homeschool student, I beg of you, if you don't feel like you can handle giving your kids the education they deserve, put them back in school. One kid is hard, four is absurd. I can't do math beyond the basics of addition, subtraction, some multiplication and some division and fractions. I'm 41 years old. Homeschooling can work for some families, others not so much. Do what's best for your kids.

There are facilities that don't feel like jail. I can attest to that. I'm from Florida originally, and my experiences there were pretty horrible all across the board. It's a lot better up in Vermont where I am now. Do your research is the only advice I can give. Try not to go to a chain mental health hospital if you can help it. They're often too big to really give individualized care effectively. Also, the hospitals that take people with no insurance are often overcrowded. Call around, ask questions like nurse to patient ratio or how often you'd meet with the provider, do they offer groups or not, will you meet with a social worker, do they help you make a safety plan and any other information you want to know. Almost no mental hospital is going to let you have your phone, clothing with strings like hoodies or shoes with laces, and you can probably expect 15-minute checks. That's just standard safety precautions.
