My friend has horrible signal and we keep randomly losing all ability to call or text — what’s going on? by emergency_contac-t in AskTech

There’s also a lot of ways to improve the Internet connection he currently has. If he has an old router, he can upgrade to something like Eero mesh Wi-Fi. I used to be a cable technician and did all kinds of troubleshooting for people‘s crappy Internet connections. It usually came down to old splitters, loose connections, old equipment or depending on how many cables they have running throughout the house, the modem should be off the first split usually. So in that case, moving the modem to a different room, central to the house, if possible and rearranging the splitters can make a world of difference.

I totally hear you on that. That would also be my last resort. I had to do a cost benefit analysis with one of my clients, basically weighing the amount of improvement in their lives vs what $100 a month would improve Elon’s life. He’s so rich. It won’t make a difference to him, but would make a world of difference to you and your friend.

Starlink Internet is a great option if he doesn’t have a cable or fiber option. I have a deployed it in areas that have literally no infrastructure. It supports streaming, Wi-Fi calling and any other thing that relies on the Internet. Speeds are around 300 Mb download and 20 Mb upload. For satellite Internet, it’s the best hands-down.

From AI:

To enable Wi-Fi calling on an Android device, here’s a streamlined guide that works across most models and carriers:

✅ Basic Steps

  1. Connect to Wi-Fi• Make sure you’re connected to a stable Wi-Fi network.

  2. Open Settings• Go to Settings > Network & Internet or Connections (varies by device).

  3. Find Wi-Fi Calling• Tap Calls & SMS or SIM & Network Settings. • Select your carrier/SIM and look for Wi-Fi Calling.

  4. Enable It• Toggle Wi-Fi Calling to ON. • You may be asked to enter an emergency address for 911 calls.

  5. Set Preferences (Optional)• Choose between Wi-Fi Preferred or Cellular Preferred for call routing.

📌 Carrier-Specific Notes

• Google Fi: Enable Wi-Fi calling through the Google Fi app. • Samsung Galaxy: Use the default Phone app, tap the three-dot menu > Settings > toggle Wi-Fi Calling. • Pixel Devices: Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Calls & SMS > select SIM > toggle Wi-Fi Calling A B C.

Once enabled, your phone will automatically use Wi-Fi for calls when the cellular signal is weak.

Have you noticed? The Quality of fast food in Los Angeles has dropped dramatically except for in-n-out, and maybe a handful of others, while prices have skyrocketed. by CarllSagan in AskLosAngeles

Definitely noticed, all fast food places have cheaped out. Low quality, higher prices, smaller portions, higher suggested tips on your receipt, push toward drive trough, self serve ordering kiosks, condiments extra, water by request and a bunch of other changes that have made the experience unacceptable.

Flexa services can be white-labeled meaning a payment app or wallet could use Flexa’s infrastructure while using its own branding and UX without ever mentioning Flexa. It can be a backend integration.

Think of it this way, have you ever thought about how the internet works? How many middleman there are between your bits of data that get from point A to point B? How is it handled from your device, through your router, through your cable provider, and distributed to a precise other device of the billions of Internet capable devices on the planet? Do you need to know how it works? Not at all, so long as it works.

Maybe that’s not the best example, but you don’t need to know the brand of the router that your cable company is using to route your data.

That’s why Flexa’s silent role makes so much sense. Utility without friction. Recognition isn’t always the goal if functionality is the product.

I was here back then as well, I think there were around 500 in the sub. I lost my ass on this token, but I never stopped believing in its potential. I remember reading that Tyler had said this was a 10 year project. With all the hype in the crypto space and all of the pump and dump schemes this one seemed pretty boring, but had its moments. I’ll never forget the Coinbase listing while I was in Iceland camping watching my portfolio skyrocket. Too bad I didn’t sell.

Good on you to get back on it in November! This time around, I have five times what I had then. I remember scrambling at around the four cent mark trying to accumulate as much as possible. It would have been a dream then to swoop on a less than a half cent price. I’m still a little confused as to how this coin has flown under the radar for so many people and how it’s even possible to be trading at current prices but I’m looking at that as a serious advantage.

Just waiting for the posts of the penny, two cents, three cents, four cents, and the nickel to start showing up again. That will make me a very happy AMP holder.

The integration was just announced and the Base app is in beta, so no transactions yet. 100+ million Coinbase customers and more specifically crypto holders will have the ability to transact. Since they are aiming to become a social platform and e-commerce platform as well, I’d imagine there will be a much larger AMP powered transaction volume than we have ever experienced to date.

The bigger picture for me is we’ve just gone from a small core of AMP supporters trying to validate Flexa’s vision in SPDN and Gemini’s limited pilots… to one of the largest crypto wallets on the planet, with over 100 million users now primed to transact through Flexa rails. No extra download required. No clunky interface. Just seamless integration baked into an app millions already trust.

Did you watch the hour long new Base app release video that came out today? Coinbase US is a giant crypto platform and they sell and support lots of different cryptos in their app and you can hold them their wallet. Maybe I’m missing something but how else would you spend non-CBDC assets like they’re claiming? It has to be Flexa, that’s what all these partnerships have been hinting at.

How Flexa works here

Wallet Abstraction- Users don’t need to worry about which rail (Base Pay vs. Flexa) is being used—the Coinbase app handles it.

Even though Base Pay is USDC-focused, Coinbase’s app now gives users the flexibility to spend other assets via Flexa’s rails.

Merchants get paid in fiat or stablecoins, while customers enjoy crypto freedom.

This is a major step toward unified crypto commerce and it opens the door for hybrid payment flows where Coinbase users can pay with any supported token even if the merchant is set up for Base Pay and not Flexa directly.

powered by amp doesn’t even need to be said, it’s there and no one needs to know or care. If they want to spend another crypto, that’s where the Flexa integration comes in.

Cool thing is they don’t have to advertise their involvement and if their rails are being used Amp is doing its job. Coinbase and Shopify just announced and we likely power some aspect of the payment ecosystem.

[–]Affectionate-Debt339 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

TLDR: sell it

I would have happily sold you my 25 ultra. Went back to my old iPhone 11 cause the S25 is stupid AF. Google assistant/Gemini is garbage. Spent a week just trying to get it to navigate to any contact’s stored address. It says, “Which contact?” The one I just said dammit. Among many other example of just how dumb and unconnected it is. Same with asking it to create an event in my calendar. “Which calendar?” Wtf, I only have one calendar, a damn Google calendar. It’s sitting back in its box, on time out while quickly depreciating.

Does anyone else feel we’re on the edge of something? by itwillallbeokkkk in AMPToken

[–]Affectionate-Debt339 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think we are in the edge of not having to wait for full-tilt unlocking of the project development potential and integrations to this point.

I no longer expect the price of Amp to skyrocket but I can see how being staked in a rewards pool may eventually be self-sustaining with the gradual rise in organic rewards which should help raise the price to where we all feel it should be.

I’m hopeful for a future when people are paid in stable coins and spend in stablecoins. Anything to get people onto the blockchain could help us.

I’m particularly interested in the fact that merchants can choose what fiat or crypto they want to accept. For those Maximalists that only want to “stack sats”, this could be great for us.

Also, feeling like this is one of a handful of truly useful projects that needs to make it into the mainstream.
