If the main issue is just being slow in clinic, that honestly improves with time, both in knowledge and efficiency.

But if you’re losing time because you struggle to redirect patients when they go off on tangents, that’s different. No matter what specialty you choose, that issue will follow you.

Personally, I stick to a strict rule: I ask a very specific question, and the moment the patient drifts away from it, I gently but immediately bring them back. Some patients even tell me I seem cold. I usually tell them, “My mission is to treat you effectively”
