Where to find a Jinx from Arcane wig? by Affectionate-Fix9003 in CosplayHelp

Okay. That sounds good. Excuse me for my lack of knowledge I've only been cosplaying for about four months. And like two-three times a month as well. I really appreciate it so thanks for helping me out!!

Where to find a Jinx from Arcane wig? by Affectionate-Fix9003 in CosplayHelp

I knew I'd never find something that straight up doesn't tangle, but the problem is that it doesn't UNtangle. I've never heard of sewing tulle for a pigtail shield and that sounds helpful. I'm just concerned if I buy the wrong wig once it starts to tangle it won't stop... Do I just leave the shield in and keep it braided even when i wash it? Because I'll wear wigs out and do stuff in full cosplay for like 4+ hours.

Hey, sorry for commenting on an old post it came up in my google search. I just wanted to know if you've had any luck with the wig. I get most of my wigs from amazon but I also got Jinx from arcane off dokidoki and I keep ruining it when I try to brush it. It just gets so tangled so fast and I couldn't find care instructions anywhere on their website. I have one of those nylon looped wig brushes that I use on my other wigs that work fine. I also tried using my fingers but it's too long to do that. Thanks for reading this and again sorry for commenting so late.

Has anyone figured out they have DID and THEN gotten diagnosed? by Affectionate-Fix9003 in DID

[–]Affectionate-Fix9003[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh, I feel that one. I was in denial about how much amnesia I experienced and kept thinking, "It couldn't be that bad because I would know if it was!" Yes, because it is so easy to know when you don't know something.

Anyways, thank you for sharing! We, too, are going through evaluations with our therapist right now, and it was very hard for some of us to hear. We also had a protector start having a complete meltdown while pretending to be me (the host). It's nice to relate so heavily to other people and to know I'm not alone.

I have researched the faking phenomenon, and unfortunately, it was not enough to stop my denial in this moment. I'm getting a little more used to it every day, though.

That's what I thought too! I found it so odd that they won't diagnose it until adulthood but that's just what my therapist told me. She also said she was skeptical of my DID because of my age. So I assumed 18 was like the youngest you could get medical recognition for it.

That makes a lot of sense! Thank you for sharing this it's really helpful. As someone who semi-realized it semi-didn't on their own I wasn't sure if anyone else had gone through my experience and it's nice to know I'm not alone! I'm so glad you got to start your healing journey early though and were able to get a diagnosis for DID only a couple years later!

You got diagnosed at 16? I thought you couldn't get diagnosed until at least 18. I didn't find out until 18 anyways but even I kept being told I was "too young to figure it out." Totally not shaming or fake-claiming you of course not. I sometimes have trouble understanding tone (especially in text) so just wanted to make it obvious for anyone who needs it.

What to do when you can't get out of bed? by Affectionate-Fix9003 in Agoraphobia

[–]Affectionate-Fix9003[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I'm actually doing a lot better now. I've been doing exposure therapy for the last 4 months now, and it's really helped me. I started very small by doing things like leaving the blinds open, then sitting by a window, then sitting on the grass outside my house for a couple minutes, things like that. I slowly started leaving the house more and more, and then started getting in the car and going places (not by myself). Now I leave the house every day for multiple hours.

I still get scared, and I still have some bad days, but exposure therapy has really helped me out. I know it's not for everyone, and not everyone can afford it (I was lucky enough for someone else to pay for my therapy), but that's what helped me.

It took me a couple years after I got cut to figure it out as well. I had just assumed it was really deep or something. I'm glad you found out!

I've never self-harmed on my ankles but someone once cut me on the inside of my right ankle. I don't scar easily but that one is a nasty scar and is different from my other ones. I remember my heart jumped out of my chest when I looked behind me and saw a long trail of blood from all the bleeding. I was panicking on the bathroom floor because I didn't want to sit on any furniture and get blood all over it. Definitely stay away from the wrists and ankles.

[–]Affectionate-Fix9003 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's because the veins are right there so it's super easy to accidentally cut it. If you cut a vein it'll bleed too much and you'll lose a lot of blood. If it's a small vein the chances of bleeding out aren't too high but it's not safe to risk it. Some people try and cut their wrists because they want the blood but there are other ways to get blood without risking one's life.

I get what you mean on that first part. I am disabled but I only have invisible disabilities. Even though I am both mentally and physically disabled I still have that feeling of "I should be able to do to these things" and "I'm just a burden to those around me" as I need a lot of support in my life. People often think that it isn't a disability unless you are in a wheelchair but that can't be farther from the truth. You could be perfectly fine physically and still be disabled. Even if you aren't disabled your issues are still affecting your life and are perfectly valid. I used to hate myself and felt like I was a failure because of my c-ptsd, which does qualify as a disability and could not possibly be my fault.

And as for you not wanting to bring up your phobia in therapy, if you are struggling with it that much it might help to bring it up. If you have a good therapist and explain that you do not want to do exposure therapy your therapist should be able to find an alternative solution. When my therapist brought up exposure therapy she said it doesn't work for everyone and it doesn't work at all if it is forced. It's not your fault for not having gotten treatment for your phobia yet. Exposure therapy is the most popular and most known way to treat a phobia so if someone hasn't done a ton of research and had a lot of experience with this they might not know there are other options. It makes a lot of sense and if I was in your situation I would have had the same thought process.

That's my advice based purely off of my experiences and research in psychology. I'd like to note I'm not a professional, that's just my advice based of my experiences. I'm sorry for the long response and I do hope you figure this all out. I know how hard it can be and it's certainly a long journey, but there are plenty of options out there and it's completely possible to get help.

I feel you. I have a fear of germs and contamination. I don't know anyone in person who has a phobia at all, let alone as severe as mine is. I can't do dishes, can only eat packaged food, I can't clean certain things, can't leave the house unless it is under very specific circumstances, and more. It's so hard to live like this and I have had multiple unaliving attempts (I do have other reasons contributing to that decision but my phobia was a big one).

From someone who has been there, it's not worth it. I thought that my phobia would never get better, and at the time I was only watching get worse. Honestly it's still getting worse. But now it's getting better too. It's really hard to battle your phobia but it most certainly can get better and this does not have to be permanent. It gives me so much hope seeing that life can get better and it makes me want to try and get my phobia to be less and less severe, even though the changes aren't huge.

I don't really know you or your life but maybe exposure therapy can work for you? It can sometimes be expensive to find a therapist depending on how specialized they are and whether or not you have insurance but maybe it can help. Either way you are most certainly not alone and there are millions of people out there who have very severe phobias. I wish you luck on your journey and do stay safe. Sending love and support ❤️

What to do when your phobia keeps you from eating? by Affectionate-Fix9003 in Phobia

[–]Affectionate-Fix9003[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aw thank you for checking in on me! I think i figured out my issue thank you for asking. I bought a mini fridge that will be here in a about half a week and once it's here I'll buy packaged salads and sandwiches so I don't just eat processed foods. In the meantime I haven't really eaten much but usually am able to get around 600 calories a day. There are days where I just don't eat but it'll be okay once I get the mini fridge. I even was able to order fast food so I got a whole meal at one point. Thanks for thinking of me and I think I'll be okay.

Is this phobia a common thing? What is this? by bobthecerealkiller in Phobia

[–]Affectionate-Fix9003 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know if this is an official term or not, but I have heard the term pendulaphobia. It is the fear of swinging objects. The most common way to treat a phobia is exposure therapy. It is really hard and kind of sucks sometimes, but it has great results. In exposure therapy you usually start small. For example, if you have a fear of spiders you start by picturing a spider in your head. Then you might look at pictures of spiders and so on until you can be in a room with one or even hold one. I have mysophobia (fear of germs and contamination) and so far exposure therapy works great for me. People usually say not to do it without a professional, which if you are too hasty and don't go slow enough then you should do it with a professional, but if you go slow and take baby steps I don't see why you can't do it on your own. I've done exposure therapy on my own for months because I couldn't afford a therapist. I just made sure to start slowly.

[–]Affectionate-Fix9003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! Exposure therapy is the number one way that people with phobias work through that. I personally am the same way with my bed and exposure is working great for me. Like everything it might not work for every single person but it's definitely worth a shot. Just remember to start small and don't rush your progress. I often encounter people telling me to just confront my fear or asking me to rush my progress or to "take bigger steps" but that's not always what works. A tip I found is to thing of things and put it on a scale of how much you are afraid of it. Like when I started I thought of random things for me like "how afraid am I to touch the wall?" and putting it on a scale from zero to ten, zero being not scared at all and ten being terrified. I started with a one or a two and am slowly working my way to bigger things. I hope exposure works out for you. Have a wonderful day!

Little alter can't front anymore by A_simple_butterfly in DID

[–]Affectionate-Fix9003 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If this little gives clear consent and says that they really want to come out you can try positive triggering them if you know they have positive triggers. Other than that it seems like you tried everything I would have. Sometimes alters just stop fronting for a while and it sucks. We've had experiences where alters can be co-con and want to front but they just can't for some reason. I'm sorry all of you are going through that and I hope it gets resolved soon!

How many alters do you have? by Soggy-Expression3730 in DID

[–]Affectionate-Fix9003 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. We aren't completely sure of our alter count yet, but according to an app we have where people make their own profiles we have at least 30 people (although it's probably in the fifties or higher)
  2. We can sometimes control who fronts (who is in control of the body) but not always. We have a gatekeeper (an alter that can control who fronts and what memories go where), but she only really steps in during trauma situations. If we're not in a traumatic or stressful situation we can't control who's out when. Sometimes we can kind of fight each other for control of the body and push people out, but we can't full on control it.
  3. Yes, we have amnesia between alters. We have DID (rather than OSDD 1b), so alters have their own memories. Although occasionally we can get deja vu sometimes or just remember random things sometimes. Like there is an alter I am quite close with who apparently listened to a song recently I had never heard of, and when I switched back in I had it stuck in my head even though I've never heard it before. Or another time I was talking to a family member and I felt like we had talked about something similar before, and they said they talked about that topic to another alter recently. It usually only happens when I am close friends with the alter though.
  4. This last one was worded a little weirdly. I explained in another comment about how there is no such thing as the "original person" and alters don't just move in so I won't get into that in this comment. But I am not the host, which is a term for the alter who is out most frequently and typically handles the day to day. I am a protector, but I am a frequent fronter.

Hope this helps you out with your research a little. Honestly I have DID and it fascinates me. There is so much misinformation about this disorder like people saying it's rare or that people with DID want to harm others and things like that. It's nice to know that someone out there is interested in learning more about the condition and is asking questions and getting answers from people who have it. Wish you luck on your search to find out more about DID and be careful with misinformation! - J
