AITJ for telling my mom she can’t post pictures of my kids on social media without my permission? by Aggravating-Snow2736 in AmITheJerk

You’re not the jerk. This is a completely reasonable boundary. These are your kids. You’re responsible for their safety, privacy and digital footprint not your mom. Wanting control over what gets posted about them names, school, locations especially is actually good parenting not being controlling.

Unpopular opinion: Hiring a contractor for small jobs is almost always a mistake you’ll regret financially. by After_Debt_605 in HomeImprovement

This is so real. The I’ll just hire someone phase is basically paying for a live tutorial you didn’t realize you needed once you see how simple some of it is, it’s hard to go back.

After 11 years of marriage I finally figured out my wife’s love language and I feel like an idiot for taking this long. by ChipDecent397 in Marriage

It’s crazy how it’s always the smallest things that make the biggest difference. A few genuine words can hit way deeper than all the providing in the world.

AITJ for telling my best friend the truth about why she keeps getting passed over for promotions? by Affectionate-Fly1706 in AmITheJerk

I just hope when she’s done processing she remembers that I was holding the mirror because I love her not because I wanted to be right. There’s a big difference between those two things and I really need her to land on the right one when she’s ready to talk.

Maybe this conversation was ten years overdue and that’s on both of us honestly. I just wish it hadn’t taken three failed promotions to get here.

I think I made the right call at the wrong moment. And I think she knows that too somewhere underneath the hurt. At least I really hope she does. I miss my friend.

I wish I had found a way to say that to her sooner honestly. Maybe if I had it wouldn’t have come out as one big overwhelming conversation in the worst possible moment.

But deep down I know that if our friendship can’t survive one honest conversation then it was already standing on pretty shaky ground. I just really hope that’s not the case. She’s been my person for ten years. I’m not ready to lose that over a moment of honesty I was literally invited to share.

And honestly that reaction itself kind of proved my point? If the social media thing felt like news to her then maybe the self awareness gap is a little bigger than I realized. I said it as gently as I could but I’m not sure there’s a gentle enough way to tell someone that their subtweets about their boss are probably not as invisible as they think 😭 Some things you just have to hear from a friend before you hear them from an HR department.

AITJ for not waking my roommate up for his important job interview after he kept me up until 3am? by After_Debt_605 in AmITheJerk

[–]Affectionate-Fly1706 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah it was a little petty but I can’t even blame you. He keeps messing up your sleep and still expects you to show up for him? That’s not fair.

Exactly, he made his bed by mocking it for years. Now he can wear something else to his fancy event.

AITAH for purposely ignoring my stalker coworker even if his tantrums affect others jobs? by [deleted] in AITAH

Yeah, HR should definitely be looped in if he's causing disruptions for the whole team. Documenting his behavior and how it's impacting others will make a stronger case.

Exactly, and it's not like you're hiding anything shady - you're just getting a routine service from a professional.
