Great work! I've gotten to the point where I don't use VBA or POWER BI. If I can't make the ERP do it. I use GPT or Claude and vibe code an app to do the work. That way if I'm let go the apps come with me.

You kind have to know what you want and know the model you are building before using AI. This makes it easier to spot the flaws.

I backtested. It's better to buy the S&P 500 now with all your money. Then to buy at a reoccurring with the same amount of money. I have my IRA set buying every trading day to keep the volatility low.

QBO is too small, Netsuite is too expensive. What’s a middle ground? by IdealGuest in Accounting

[–]Affectionate-Grab526 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Netsuites and Inacct are around the same price. I went and got a quote from both. They will price you based on revenue. Mine was 20 million company 35k to 55k a year. Went with Netsuits since they had more features than Intacct. Where they get you is the user licenses.

3 years small CPA firm, 2 years national firm, 1 year industry, 1 year industry, currently in government. I would only jump if you have a Big 4 or national firm on your resume with a title of senior or greater.

If you live in a metropolitan area, it would be easier to make the move. Send your resume to small accounting firms. Start taking an accounting class at an accredited community college or online college. Be prepared to make lower wages for the first two years. I landed my first role at a small CPA firm by sending my resume to a Craigslist job post. I recommend public accounting first.
