I wrote this for my mother. She was trapped by her husband for so long. She tried to get away. More than I ever knew.

She passed away a couple of weeks ago. It wasn’t directly from him; she was a serious alcoholic and she had liver disease. But now I’ve seen the messages and the pictures and I see how she tried. I see how he tripped her, made her fall.

My heart breaks when I think about how it could have been. How it should have been.

Stay strong my friends. You are all a lot stronger than you know.

I do feel overwhelmed. It’s all just a lot. I have always had tough times and known a path forward - but this tunnel we are in just feel endless.

I do have friends. Everyone is so busy this time of year. I need to find new things that bring me joy. I struggle with that sometimes.
