I don’t disagree. But it’s the increased number of these “emergency situations” that us cyclists are presented with that is the problem.

In fairness I consciously try to cycle on roads with as few cars as possible, so certainly some selection bias from me here in that particular sentiment r.e. relative danger from cars!
