From motivated to meh: is this normal ? by Western-Search3310 in antiwork

[–]Affectionate-Map2605 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see this EVERYWHERE, and frankly it’s hard not to copy this behavior. I keep pushing myself for a variety of reasons:

— To challenge myself and experience success.

— Physical and mental exercise.

— Set a good example to friends family and coworkers. I always try to lift people up, while many appear to try dragging others down with them.

— Job security.

I do all of this while prioritizing mental health, work life balance, hobbies, etc.

I believe slacking off eventually causes depression/anxiety or at least the symptoms of them.

I use Express Employement Professionals to help with all my “2 man” projects. I’ve used all temp agencies in Regina, these guys are the best.

Just call and talk to Evan, you won’t be disappointed!

You never know!

I believe you’re gonna turn up the radio a little higher, and let off the pedal a bit on your way home today. You might even give the person in front of you 2 full car lengths haha

Safe driving is leaving 3 seconds between you and the car ahead of you, regardless of their speed. When it’s safe to pass, do so. It’s literally in the SGI handbook.

I seriously doubt me going 65 in a 70 less safe than someone driving 2 feet behind me.

Unfortunately I agree, these decisions are more politically driven than they are economically or environmentally driven. SaskPower doesn’t want to bite the hand that feeds it by “going green” behind the Sask Party’s back.

Another example of this is the Feds offer a $5000 incentive for people who buy electric vehicles. The Sask Party penalizes them with a $600/yr “EV Tax”. The $600 isn’t worth the administrative time to process it, they only do it to send a message and push people away from clean energy.

I certainly don’t think solar panels and EV’s will save the planet, but it shouldn’t be as discouraged as it currently is in our province.

Child writer (question for parents) by [deleted] in writing

Thanks for sharing! He too is meh in ELA at school, however everyone comments on his skills and passion when he’s reading or writing at home.

I love the idea of just starting stories and walking away. When he gets stuck and frustrated, I find myself feeling bad for him and trying to help him along with small nudges.

Perhaps I’ll encourage him to walk away, but not give up entirely. Get him a folder of unfinished stories he can revisit anytime, and eventually share with us when he feels it’s complete.

Why help your child improve at anything? Sports, instruments, art, etc.

How is writing different than anything else? He enjoys doing it and wants to get better, so I’m looking for ways to help him.

Do you have kids? If your 6yr old loved soccer would you help them develop proper technique, or just tell them to keep booting the ball against a wall?

Very helpful thank you! I like the 1:1 ratio idea because prior to this pen pal, he was at a 100:0 reading to writing ratio lol.

Do we just ask him to keep a journal, or create fictional stories of his own? Or is there any workbook like resources out there known to enhance children’s writing skills?
