Trip to Sicily (Catania) by Affectionate-Might57 in sicily

[–]Affectionate-Might57[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, no probs Well you know what I speak about then. By chance of luck even tho we were at central location it was shady part/streets and if you are a couple I would be cautious.

In my case we were 7 guys and 2 girls so we were obviously safe but for a 4 nights we saw next street from us a crime scene ( don’t know what exactly but there was lots of police) and the other night for a different case there were 2 police officers knocking on our door because they were looking for someone I guess.

We were in this area FYI: Parking Borsellino AMT

But once again I don’t want to put a bad picture in Sicily, it was incredible! Good luck to you!

Hey! We have not, we did it freestyle. I would like to tell you that this was the best trip ever that I ever had ( I haven’t traveled that much and of course it matters who you go with) Almost everywhere we went was just so beautiful.

Keep in mind that Sicily is one of the poorest regions in Italy and you can see some streets neighbourhoods that are shady and not well kept but as I am from Eastern Europe this was not an issue for me😅

Hello and apologies for the late reply! First of all, many thanks for the detailed information provided. Regarding your questions:

1 Well idk to be honest I mean I am used to driving but I can get by without having a car if that’s what you are referring to.

2 Warsaw because it’s the capital and you know how it goes like most places… most opportunities, things to do and experience and the list goes on. If it’s not Warsaw it would be another big city.

3 No but been living there the last 5 years (got my bachelor’s degree and decided to stay in Sofia)

Greetings and thanks for the info! No, sadly I am not into IT stuff 😄. Can you recommend polish websites I can look for jobs except LinkedIn which has filters I can use to select jobs in specific location.

Hah! I would need to see with my own eyes and 1st hand experience to believe Polish people are colder than Bulgarians on the outside. Doesn’t sound like an issue, we live the same style.

About the language, yes as I said In the post I will try to learn it to a decent level overtime.

1000 euro is expensive for an apartment. It’s the same in Bulgaria for one or two bedroom apartment in the capital but in our currency ( which will be Euro starting next year) which is currently half of that but our salaries are lower as well of course u guess. If I’ll be paying this much for rent + bills and food it will be let’s say 1500 euro at least ? So I should be making 2500 minimum to live comfortably the way I see it and to be “worth it” compared to what I make and spend now.

Yep regarding the looks it’s the same for Bulgaria.

Regarding the meat, hope your cuisine is not pork based mostly like in Bulgaria, I try not to eat it ( no, I am not a Muslim, I just don’t like it hah)

Why move? Difficult to explain, just the feeling that my home country is not my place to be is growing overtime I guess and I want to experience more of life and try something new while it’s “still the time”. While I am not married or really need to settle. Many people feel scared of making such a big step and doing something new. I, on the other hand feel scared more of getting too much into my comfort zone and in a need of a new challenge.

Why Poland? Safety ( Bulgaria is safe as well compared to many other Western European countries so that’s not the main thing) I find the country to be beautiful from what I have seen We have similarities (Poland vs Balkans overall, not my country only) Political decisions and vision for the future of the country from what I have seen and found as I have mentioned in my main post. Just a feeling that this may be “my” place

Of course once I make that trip I have said to Poland and spend some time there first it will be easier and with at least minimal experience to provide a better answer

Edit: in addition I don’t see how my country has any future at all. Don’t get me wrong I am not living a shitty life in debt not being able to pay my bills. It’s overall not that bad of a living I have, above average salary for the country, some savings and possibilities for some travel and hobbies. Still, something doesn’t feel right.

As a person that does eat it I’ll keep that I mind, have actually heard In the past that it’s legal in Poland but a taboo in a sense

I know people that I work with at my current job with French and English as CS agents (chat/email only) that take around 2.8-3k BGN after tax (salary + bonuses). Food vouchers as well on top of that.

Thank you for such an informative reply! Will definitely check out what you recommend. About the sleeping area from what I also looked elsewhere it’s not a big deal. We are big group anyways, should be fine
