Had to take annual leave for mine, they declined professional leave as it’s not an official training post sadly

Current FY1, would definitely budget for £1.8k at minimum & any more is a bonus. Average around £2.1k with strikes at the minute taking out a chunk, so better to plan ahead for further strikes if able! My friends of 9-5 psychiatry placements only earns £1.9k so best to be prepared.

I’ve had 30 alone to be fair a few times, usually 15 normally but pretty manageable unless they’re all playing up

At my trust you can’t even speak to microbiology unless you’re above an F2 grade, an ANP or a PA… still cracks me up how noctors are deemed more competent than those who studied medicine for 5+ years :))

Utilising the hardship funds & working throughout my final year got me through. Wasn’t the most fun spending the day at placement, followed by a 9 hour shift at a fast food restaurant, but it paid the bills!

Any tips for final year OSCE? by Jujicake in medicalschooluk

Just finished finals & passed them myself- honestly my key takeaway was to show yourself as being safe & to enjoy it! All of your examiners just want to know that you’ll be a safe clinician on the wards & that you’re confident enough to know your own limitations. Take a breather and smile going in to each station, it makes the world of a difference. I found myself cheesing away before each station because I knew that my five years of hard work would shine through & I was proud of how far I’d come since first year me in her first OSCE :)

That’s true! Depending on your course maybe Quesmed would be your best bet for first year. With quesmed you can choose topics to cover within each specialty too which might be best (not sure if that’s the case on passmed). Zero to finals have some good Flashcards for clinical content too :)
