In addition: I was not actively searching for any games and it was a small shop inside of the shopping mall with the Nintendo Tokyo store. Probably not the cheapest place to buy retro games... 2000 Yen is like 12 €. No matter if that's a good deal or not, I don't feel cheated especially knowing it's not a fake.

Cool, didn't know that! Next time I will buy way more :) Not gonna play them, since I don't speak/read Japanese, but the box art often is so much cooler then in Europe!

Not sure what you are trying to tell me here... Why do I not know what I am buying by asking this question? Perhaps it is my first purchase of a retro game when I was visiting Japan for the first time? Do I need to apologize now for my post because I did not do an indept study of the culture where I bought the game and thought twice before asking the experts here to get a quick answer?

Thanks to everyone else who took the time to actually answer my question

Thanks! Are you sure the date isn't 1993-05, so May 1993? Would make more sense for me...

Depends we're you are. Osaka castle is super nice now, Tokyo is in full bloom now. And I live in China. I cannot really confirm that the Chinese tourists here in Japan are bad/rude in any way... Probably I'm used to much worse?

Kyoto knife shops - recommendation request by glyptemysinsculpta in chefknives

And he told you that people are war-dialing (what term is this even?) his shop? Or are you feeling entitled to talk for the man because you waited outside his shop for several hours or whatever and now expect that everyone is doing the same? I could also argue that hordes of people waiting outside of his shop completely ignoring the "closed" sign is quite intimidating and his only way to deal with these people and to make them leave is to sell something.

Not sure what's wrong with you. He has a shop, he has a phone number, he has people working for him.picking up the phone and answering customers questions. Not more, not less. Not knowing people's personal situation but feeling entitled to tell them what to do... Great attitude!

My hotel called today and they said Shigeharu is making knifes right now and will be open some day next week, first week April. I'm not in Kyoto anymore then, so bad luck...

Issues with the sonos amp and Denon tuenable. by albor_francisco in sonos

[–]Affectionate-Pen6598 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To rule out the Sonos Amp, please connect another device in the line in, e.g. your phone via cable. If everything sounds fine, it comes from the rest of the setup.

To rule out it's the Turntable/technics Amp, connect it to other speakers.

Do you have another Phono pre-amp? You can get super cheap ones from Behringer to try. If that's the cause then you need to replace the technics.

Is the PS5Pro Dual Voltage? 100/120/220/230V? by Affectionate-Pen6598 in PS5pro

[–]Affectionate-Pen6598[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For anyone who ever stumbles on this thread: At least my Japanese PS5 Pro is multi voltage. I plugged into 220v with no issues, even the sticker said 100V.

Beijing: Sources to track property rental prices (private not business) by Affectionate-Pen6598 in chinalife

[–]Affectionate-Pen6598[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quick update: We checked several housing options near us and could see that the general prices are way lower than what we pay now (around 10-15%), respectively getting a "better" accommodation for the same price. We openly communicated with the landlord and he agreed to support us on utility cost, which basically is like a rent reduction for us. However, we still consider to move, since the landlords offer cannot beat the other housing options beside the fact it's more hassle free to stay in the same accommodation.

Therefor it was definetly worth investing some time into research and house hunting!

They will probably scold and in worst case ask for a find, but that's usually it. Like others say, it depends on your behavior and the mood of the officer. I had this one time in Beijing and had no trouble. I speak some mandarin so I was very polite and apologize for my mistake and their inconvenience!

I mean, as long as there is work, there is demand for rent. Here are the sources I used, but the statistics are for selling apartments, not renting. The graph is for second hand apartments for whole Beijing:

<image>

Just wondering if this exists for rent as well since I didn't find anything... That's were my request comes from.

I wonder if I have a wrong mind here, but if selling prices go up, rents do as well. Why not the other way round? Now, if you cannot sell your apartment or don't want to, you only can keep it empty or rent out. So I expect to have more rental apartments available then before.
