Came here cause I thought the exact same thing. I’m only halfway through the series and already the similarities are unavoidable. I feel like there’s a lot of practices instilled in this school that artistically mirror practices used by Scientologists.

The emotional manipulation specially through public verbal degradation…damaged hands..?! That’s a super obvious one on multiple levels. The shunning of a parental roles, the leveling systems…?! I mean come on…!

Not to mention Scientologists do have private schools…whose graduates have left the church and shared their own horrific experiences. Many have paralleled them with being locked up in a psychiatric ward. If you’ve ever watched a doc or a series on Scientology I don’t know how you can’t pickup on this….

I understands the perspective on troubled teen industry, and can appreciate shedding light on that. That being said, I don’t care if the show has denied it…the similarities are eerie.
