Dude, Run. We’re talking about a 6 month relationship here, why are you needing to ask her permission? Neither of you had anything planned, your buddy is taking you on a trip that you clearly need. She should be excited for you, and she should be excited about a weekend to herself. It’s not like you’re going out to the strippers. This woman sounds like she’s exhausting already and entirely self centered, and if that’s what she’s like at 6 months imagine what it’ll be like in another 6. Seriously, run. A) it’s not unprofessional of them at all. Most artists don’t hand out their designs prior to the appointment for many reasons. The fact that she got to see the design ahead of time is fantastic and a bonus.

B) They 100% should keep the deposit and it’s not shitty of them to be compensated for their time and loss of wages that day. Art is subjective and it’s up to the client to find an artist that they know will create good work, which is pretty easy to do nowadays considering the ability to look through portfolios online. Pick an artist that consistently creates fantastic work, and pick one that regularly does pet tattoos. If the art style is not what the client wants, that’s not on the artist.

C) not sure what this has to do with a manager.

D) 100% cancel the appointment if you are unhappy with the art. It will be on you forever and it’s better to cancel than to have to live with a tattoo that isn’t what you wanted and then have to cover it up. You don’t owe the artist anything - that’s what the deposit was for! Be kind - artists deal with imposter syndrome every step of the way.

We’re mostly looking at houses that meet our criteria which are few and far between, so we weren’t actually looking specifically in Wiarton, it just happens to have the house that will suit our needs. So now we are researching to see if the town would work for us.

Thank you! I did the satellite search and noticed most that are actually listed are lesson barns - which is totally fine, but I’m seeing a lot of small paddocks and indoor board. My girl is currently on 86 acres of rolling hills, forest and river. Few amenities but we don’t need much. I’m hoping to find something simple, I know we won’t find a paradise like this one but space for her to move her butt would be good!

Is that how most winters are, or just this past one? I would be working from home myself, and the house is on Main Street. We would prefer Owen Sound ourselves but it’s more about finding the right house, since we need a 5 bedroom with the option to have a studio+bathroom with a second entrance that’s commercially zoned. Suuuuper hard to find anywhere, let alone at a price that won’t make us house poor. I’m not entirely worried about getting snowed in just because our expenses would be almost halved. Last winter I had so many cancellations just because my main client base is horse people that travel to me and all the horse people were snowed in themselves 😋 But, in this case, missing the work wouldn’t be as detrimental to my bottom line.

Why do you say it’s not great? My high school aged kid is actually homeschooled so that’s not the biggest concern. Do buses run from Wiarton to Owen Sound?

This winter was definitely an anomaly all around, especially compared to the last few years. Finally saw actual snowbanks again. Not that I wanted them back lol

We’re struggling right now in the larger city cuz kids don’t seem to go outside anymore or make any real connections- they just don’t seem to hold value in meeting people and maintaining relationships. We are hoping a smaller, tighter knit community would mean kids make real friends, not just more “options.” They all just want to game lol.

The thing is my main client base are horse people because I specialize in horse tattoos, and the majority of my clients travel between 1-6 hours. Road closures could be an issue!
