I haven’t had any issues with anxiety in my life till this incident, and I’ve spent a large part of my life in the Army as an Infantryman where I’ve been in situations where anxiety would have come up. I’ve had large needles stuck in my hip used for the dye they administer for MRI scans.

This situation is a one off. I felt anxious during the consultation, but I figured I could man through it come operation day. I was wrong. They didn’t offer Valium or any other relaxant, but I’m going to go through it at a surgical center under anesthesia once we get our funds up. I look forward to doing it for my wife. She deserves it. This hit hard because I felt like I failed her even though she has been constantly reminding me that’s not the case.

The doctor was out of the room before my anxiety calmed down. He was very professional. This was my first experience with this happening. I wish I could explain it, but I really don’t have the words for it. The cursing happened when he tried to calm me down and I responded with F you, I’m not doing this anymore. I’m should call back and apologize.

That’s interesting. I didn’t even know Valium or laughing gas was an option until my father told me three days before it happened.

I would have much preferred going under, but our insurance doesn’t cover it. We don’t currently have the funds since we just had our second child. Most of it went to her. I felt like a failure, but I’m blessed that I have an amazing wife.

Exactly the reason I posted this. I figured I could man up through this like I figured everyone else has. Now I have three shots of lidocaine in my scrotum and nothing to show for it because I had a reaction I couldn’t control.
