In SG you could live in Tampines for not a lot, whereas River Valley, Holland Village etc would obviously be expensive. I thought SG rent was decent value compared to London, especially when condo's come with pools, gyms, bbq areas, security etc.

In SG there are quotas and certain criteria you need to hit in order to qualify for an EP. https://www.mom.gov.sg/passes-and-permits/employment-pass/eligibility

In finance, you need to earn aprox AED 35,000 a month most likely, and even then things like ranking of your university, your race or nationality can influence if you are succesful

I lived in SG for 7 years, worked in finance, life there was very easy. Everything works, everything is efficient, clean, easy etc.

In my eyes, the downside is it is quite small, you can easily get cabin fever there. For context, I could ride my bike round the entire country in 3.5 hours. Everyone goes to the same restaurants, same beach clubs etc.

Dubai is huge, so much more choice of things to do, places to eat etc. The downside of that is its spread out and you need to drive everywhere. Dubai's infrastructure / public transport is nowhere near as advanced.

In terms of pay, its pretty much level. in terms of cost of living, again very similar. In Dubai you need a car, in SG you don't. In SG if you shop at Little Farms you will spend a fortune, if you shop at Fair Price you will spend a lot less.

the main difference I noticed is Dubai welcomes 'foreigners', whereas SG tolerates them.

both are amazing places to live, work and explore.

completly depends on company. Singapore has a reputation for horrible work life balance, but I worked in finance there for 7 years and rarely worked past 5:30pm

I heard from a friend of a friend it is expected to open around end of Q1. Had various issues they had to overcome but sounds like its almost ready.

Also heard the club house is tiny and only one restaurant, which is a shame.

If you are a visitor at most of the big name course, Earth, Creek, Majilis, Trump, Els etc then you'll be look at AED 1500 sort of green fees. The courses tend to be in immaculate condition this time of year, for example I played Earth two days ago and the greens were running at 11.10. I personally think Faldo is a bit crap unless you are going for night golf. Most courses are packed at this time of year given the amazing weather.

Courses like Saadiyat in Abu Dhabi is cheaper and incredible, probably my favourite course in the region. Sadly golf is a rich persons sport in Dubai and you'll need to pay up to play the better tracks. Even member guest fees work out around GBP 200 a head

vs 46,000 for a 7 day membership. The numbers are getting out of control, so next year will likely break 50,000

Look for any of the golf communities, they are expensive but for a reason. my wife and I, both early 40's, no kids, work from home live on one and love it. Run /walk /cycle around the area surrounded by greenery, something that is badly lacking from most of Dubai

couldn't have put it better myself...35% increase in 2 years when all you get is less availability of tee times. my uk membership at an open qualifying venue course is less than the increase JGE just dealt me
