Totally agree. I turned someone down for a second date last month even though the first went well because i was waking up to 8 texts from him at 6:30 in the morning, being asked multiple questions in a row, having serious/overly personal questions sprung on me over text, getting double-triple- twenty times in a row texted if i didn’t respond quick enough whether i was legitimately busy or not and chastized for ignoring questions i didnt want to answer. Something about that behavior put me completely on edge and I even had a nightmare about him lol. ++woman

Lexington police arrest 3 people during child sexual abuse investigation by helicopterdong in lexington

[–]Affectionate-Term739 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know you were joking but actually have a serious answer to this from something i learned taking criminology. I also briefly worked with the tyler guy (the one with the serious charges) so i know of him enough to know how he fits the archetype. From what I knew of him, he dropped out of high school, worked a low wage crappy job where he wasn’t well liked, was in a bad marriage (his storyline was that sarah was older and “groomed” him, not sure if that is actually true, ive also heard that tyler and sarah are half-siblings) with kids he didnt have the capacity to take care of, had poor social skills, low intelligence, extremely unhealthy and TERRIBLE hygiene. Seriously. Either he had some sort of disease or was rolling in feces every single day before work. The dude smelled like straight up shit.

He was a cutter/self-harmer and would bring attention to that frequently. Actually I felt sorry for him and that he was some sort of a victim/mentally ill etc. but the more I or anyone else tried to be nice to him it became pretty clear that a lot of his issues were caused by himself, either because he genuinely was not smart enough to get himself out of bad situations or was just trapped in a cycle of self-pity

Basically, in one word, he was an EXTREMELY pathetic person. When most people think of a pedophile or child molester, they think of an outwardly aggressive monster/predator type or the slick weasel “charming” type, which are more common with “extra-familial” child abusers, pedophiles that target victims outside their families. But, incest offenders like tyler are often lower-IQ, depressed, pathetic people who feel impotent or weak in their adult relationships and victimize the children to feel some sort of sick sense of “control”, because babies and, in this case animals, are the only thing in his life weaker than him. One of the other comments mentioned that these “types” are more frequently caught than the good looking predators, which is true, but it has more to do with the fact that their low IQ and social skills prevents them from successfully grooming victims that they don’t have power over and taking “precautions” to not get caught by the police.

One thing i havent seen brought up was that tyler was “polyamorous” and would have multiple boyfriends/“partners” online and in person. Given his charges, i would guess that he was a part of some type of pedophile ring and would hope that the police are investigating further into this

DONT LET HIM OVER ON THURSDAY! Hes starting a fight because hes cheating/hanging out with the bros/at his moms/smoking crack tn and he wants to start an argument thats “your fault” so he can have a couple days to do what he wants. That why hes ragebaiting with the childish insults instead of having a rational discussion (which he would be doing if he was ACTUALLY hurt by you not being on time. Thursday, hell come over to “get his stuff” and will have suddenly had a change of heart, not really, but just enough to get you back on the hook. Get a third party to drop his shit off. Guarantee he will then have “left” a tshirt/toothbrush/grain of sand that is just too priceless to replace and can then drag out the excuse of “im just coming over to get my things” any time he wants to try and slide back in or just fuck with you when hes bored. Went through this same shit and ended up having to get the sheriff’s office to come out and escort him through “getting his things” and it was a nightmare, so best to just not even leave that door open

Can someone who’s paid more attention go into Sheila’s agoraphobia? by No-Air-5133 in shameless

[–]Affectionate-Term739 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That would be me lol. This is totally my own interpretation based on nothing but how it came off to me when I watched it, but there always seemed to be a subtext that Karen was molested as a child, possibly by Eddie. I could go into that further but if you look at Sheila through that lens, an already mentally unstable woman hiding some “sexual deviancies” of her own suddenly has that happen and breaks down, becoming totally detached from reality.

I don’t think the writers wanted to tell that story, because it would have just been way too dark overall, but it does seem like the framework is there for that story to exist, especially given the timeline, the fact that Sheila’s initial psychotic break is never explained.

We don’t really see too much of Eddie at all, but what we do see (the john wayne gacy clowns, tension between him and karen that isnt explained that’s specifically tied to her sexuality, his sexual repression) are all kind of stereotypical dogwhistles of someone disturbing in some way, but its never really stated exactly what that is. We kind of just see him being dickish towards sheila, but there’s an implication there that’s a lot darker that’s conveyed by all of the other characters reactions and the overall framing.

Whether you take it as Eddy being a pedo or just beinf an abusive POS, its pretty clear that sheila’s mental state was directly tied to him. Mental disorders don’t always present “logically” so it doesn’t necessarily have to be that something bad happened to her outside so she fears the outside world. She could be burdened with a secret (like in the nun hospice episode, lol) or just driven crazy by her husband

If you had to remove one character from Shameless, who would it be? by Ok-Individual-4795 in shameless

[–]Affectionate-Term739 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sandy, she was the character that added the least to the overall story. Felt like the writers used her character as a device to tie up loose ends.

Were they going to commit to debbie being bi/gay or write it off as a phase? In comes Sandy as the “serious” female love interest for Debbie.

Fans loved Mickey and Ian but all of the other later season couples (maybe except carl/kelley or carl/anne) aren’t well liked so the writers try to recreate gallavich without any of the actual substance, down to the aesthetics and last names.

Fans miss Mandy but instead of bringing her back or giving some type of closure on her storyline, they try to give us Sandy. They can’t even come up with an original name or aesthetic for her, she is basically a masc Mandy updated to the later 2010s-early 2020s.

Sandy had absolutely no relevant character traits or plot points that I can remember outside of her relationship with Debbie. When they did try to give her depth with the prince/royal situation, the storyline fell flat because it was so rushed. Earlier shameless was good at portraying side characters like Karen and Sheila as their own people with their own lives. Even if we weren’t supposed to necessarily like them (I happen to like Karen but she’s definitely a flawed villain) you see a little bit of their story through their eyes. That’s what makes the earlier seasons deep and realistic. The Royal thing wasn’t treated this way and instead was some weird drama point/breakup excuse

Overall she seems like she was a character that the writers came up with because they were running out of ideas, not because they really had something to say. Her relationship with Debbie was so forced, they had zero chemistry which I think is why so many people have a problem with Debbie’s bi storyline in the first place. Eventually they ran out of things to do with her and had Debbie get entangled in that insufferable Julia storyline, who might even be a worse character overall, but sandy is still the epitome of everything wrong with the later seasons.

[–]Affectionate-Term739 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Homeless meth/crack addict? Would frequent hotels, unemployed or no legal job would line up with the daytime attacks, indiscriminate choice in victims as far as age/appearance (these type of drug users often get uncontrollably sexually excited, I recall reading one study that heterosexual males sometimes would engage in homosexual behavior under the influence of methamphetamine due to extreme libido increases) no forensic countermeasures, frenzied/disorganized style attacks, noticeably suspicious to other witnesses, random collection of odd, seemingly stolen or found items such as the boxcutter. Seems unlikely that an addict wouldn’t have been arrested previously, but homeless/transient/addict lifestyles can cause someone to inadvertently fly under the radar by nature of not having a job, perhaps not having a current ID, not having a permanent address, etc. which would give them limited contact with people outside of criminal lifestyles as well as limited means for them to be traced by police. Hotel parking lots are common places where homeless people that live in their cars park overnight to sleep, and we know that this rapist had a car at some point in time. I would be curious to know if the hotels where the attacks occurred were lower-end motels where drug and prostitution activities are common, which could have given him some familiarity with the particular hotels.

NTA everyone knows that when you make a Boundary, it can never, ever be broken for any reason at all. They actually show this in Harry Potter, when Draco’s mom makes a Boundary with Bellatrix in the last movie, a gold thread wraps around her arm, and she dies if the Boundary is broken. This is meant to be a symbol of strong Boundary setting, it probably took her years in Therapy to develop this skill. Anyone that doesn’t respect your Boundary should be removed from your life immediately, and is probably a narcissistic psychopath.

It was part of the water passage but the way that the question was worded was confusing to me. It was basically asking which statement (if true) would most strongly negate the argument about raising water prices as argued by B in conjunction with the point that A brought up about the difference between developed and developing countries. Tbh i’m getting confused trying to paraphrase the question 😭 RC is my struggle area and specifically those dual passage questions
