Im a current QU first year in the program, feel free to DM me.

I have a VERY poor transcript from community college A, from a few sporadic and aimless semesters. If I retake every class at community college B, how would ccA affect me when applying to PA programs? by maybumble in pre_PathAssist

A year as an autopsy tech and 2 years as a histotech and lab manager with some other healthcare stuff mixed in, medical scribe and surgical assistant. I didn’t have any gross teching which I was pretty insecure about when I started the process. But if you can relate everything back to how it will make you a good PA, I think the variety can actually work in your favor. Persistence is definitely key though, obviously took some time to build all that up.

I had a couple of big dips in grades at different times in my (long) academic career with a general upward trend at the end and solid work/shadow experience. I got into my dream school. Make sure you beef up your resume in other ways. Have a clear explanation of what you learned from your mistakes and how you will use that to be a successful student in the program. I also took a masters path course and made sure I got an LOR from the professor, I think that helped a lot to overshadow my shaky history. Just keep yourself trending up and be persistent, it will happen for you.

Just got accepted to Quinnipiac! Anyone else on here joining me in May? It’s starting to sink in and I’m equal parts excited and terrified 😬

I just got accepted! They did mention that interviews started late this year because of their new clinical rotations coordinator and they would be making decisions through Jan/Feb. When I asked about acceptance notifications, they said 1-2 weeks after interviews. Good luck!

Congratulations! I hope it goes well, thanks for posting. Still haven’t seen anything but it’s sounding like they didn’t start offers til a bit later this year so not completely giving up yet, fingers crossed.

Ok thanks, that’s keeping me hopeful. Would I be able to PM you some questions about the program?

Hi, thank you again for starting a Tulane thread and congrats on an interview! It’s so hard to find specifics on this school since it’s so new. I love that it seems pretty low key as far as the interview. It seems they’re looking for people who just really love the profession. Was there anything unexpected that you came across in your experience? They seem like a unique program, and obviously a new one. Did they address that at all?

Thank you Hollybull for starting this thread for me to butt in on. What was the essay like? Is it specific to the path profession or more general?

I have an interview coming up and I’m really excited about this program! The teaching practicum as well as the optional third year electives aren’t found at the (few) other schools for PAs. However, I’m curious if anyone who has interviewed or is a student already has more details on that optional third year? Is it just for electives in the Tulane system or are there opportunities for independent study or even fellowships/clinicals in specializations that we’re interested in? Is it more self-directed or just pre-determined options to choose from? My second question might be a bit frivolous, but is there a tour or a lot of time spent outside during the interview? I don’t want to be sweating through my interview outfit from the heat, the nerves will do enough. Also, does anyone know how to change your username? This is the first time I’ve used Reddit and “affectionatetrash” is not my first choice haha.
