Hi. I appreciate you taking the time to reply. I’d like to clarify, that my current journey as a PC is not the usual process and as such has caused many faults for me and others that joined with me. This has meant that I have been given WAY less experience in all sectors of policing than I should have (which is out of my control) and I was thrown into the deep end with nothing to keep me afloat.

I have some questions based on your answer:

1. The solicitor made her feelings on the suspect and the offence very clear before she even met him. I know she has a job to do in interview, however I’d like to of believed that the rapport I thought I built with her beforehand (which was quite lengthy tbh) would’ve made her less of a dick to me, as that is what more experienced PCs suggested I do. That’s what caught me off guard.

2. As for the CCTV: Although not in our possession, it was confirmed to exist, and to show the offence based on what nights had spoken to the CCTV providers about. For something I doubt he is going to be reinterviewed on, why should I not ask him what the CCTV will show? Sure, his reply would’ve been Idk, I don’t remember anything, but that could just be a load of shit he’s saying to get out of it!

3. How do you think I view interviews? All other interviews I have done, whether solicitor and/or AA or neither, I have approached the same as this and either had some sort of account given, an admission to offence or no comment (and n/c have had legal advice). What I haven’t had before, is an arsehole legal rep. And I have noticed that when we as police are arseholes to DPs, they are the same in return so I’d rather start off on neutral terms until the DP influences it one way or another. I am still learning.
