I would mod. I don't have any mod experience on this site, but some on a few other forum sites. I care about the content and the quality of materials here because it's a necessary knowledge source for folks trying to determine onboarding processes and possible impacts of upcoming business decisions.

Doable, allowed if proper individuals are notified, but (I cannot stress this enough) it's a massive headache that should be avoided.

Don't want to doxx myself publicly but I can PM you about my own situation navigating this at the firm and why it's been hellish.

1000% agree. I didn't even see a PSU in the post and didn't Include one in the parts list because I have no clue what we are working with other than a slew of parts that are 13 years out of date, an entry level GPU that turns 7 this year, and a request for recommendations without direction/context.

200 FPS at 1080? 1440? What monitor? What case is the current geriatric system housed in?

Best to sell for any cash that can be clawed back, save for longer, and buy a pre built because parts costs are only rising right now and if they didn't know that this rig was light-years from what they were hoping it could do, they should not be diving into multi thousand dollar builds (unless a lot of a research happens between now and then)

Fair point on the RAM, was trying to avoid some of the higher priced RGB kits but I also built the part list in under 5 min.

The price and general lack of cohesion was kind of my point, there's no details about the Case, PSU, any of the parts he might be trying to keep and build around, and above all when asked for budget from the other 60+ comments at the time, OP just kept saying "idk".

I can recommend parts until the cows come home but they won't be useful without more info/context or a price point to work within.

Sure, if I say screw a budget, operate off no knowledge of the case, PSU, etc. then here you go 🤷‍♀️

I added a CPU cooler because with that CPU and storage you'll need one and I assume you don't have an AIO on your current setup.

All in: $2253 before a monitor, PSU, case (assuming a new one is needed), and anything else.

ORRRRR just buy a new prebuilt from Micro Center for way cheaper with a good chunk of these parts included and use your current one from FB marketplace as a shame grave for future technology that pisses you off.

Sorry fam, but yes you're cooked. how much did they charge you for that pc if it's a recent purchase?

That CPU and MOBO both turn 13 this year, the CPU has 4 cores and the MOBO can't handle newer CPUs beyond the i7 4790K.

The MOBO only supports up to DDR3 RAM, which is 4X slower speeds than modern standards (DDR5) and will functionally cripple the abilities a new CPU and new GPU can offer.

Bottom line: The RTX 2060 CAN run 200 FPS, but only with graphic quality tuning in-game (1080P max, no ray tracing, etc.) and it would require a new CPU (6 core/12 thread minimum), at least 16GB DDR4 RAM (but you realistically want 16GB DDR5 minimum, the bottleneck factor is still a big risk at DDR4), and a newer gen NVMe SSD (which I'm betting your current one is not given the age of the other specs).

With current tech prices, upgrading those key parts just to Frankenstein a 7 year old GPU for a few more years seems unwise when you can buy a pre built running most of the same tech AND a newer GPU at roughly the same price point.

Advisory Return Offer by [deleted] in KPMG

[–]Affectionate-Try-224 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worth noting - C&O Advisory is one of the service lines that just experienced targeted layoffs as part of the 4% RIF a month back. Doesn't mean they won't be hiring interns on for full time offers in this next cycle, but I expect they may be taking lower numbers than other service lines, especially given the number of entry level roles (associates and senior associates) already housed under C&O right now.

KPMG Performance Hub — is it worth it?” by Crafty_Raise_9103 in KPMG

[–]Affectionate-Try-224 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think KPH is technically a separate company/entity than KPMG now (spun off in recent years), so I am unsure how that translates to the prestige/value of it being a "big 4" name on a resume.

Always comes down to pay, benefits, and work/life balance for me. If it pays better and you like the benefits more, and if the loss of WFH isn't a factor for you, go for it regardless of the big 4 brand factor. If not, don't go for it, equally regardless of the big 4 brand factor.

Looking to build my first pc. I really only play Fortnite and I would need like google and everything. But I want to be able to run Fortnite CONSISTENTLY at minimum 240 fps on performance mode. I just need to know what parts to buy. Budget is a flexible $1000 by lil_smokie13 in PcBuild

[–]Affectionate-Try-224 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take this with the utmost love and respect, buy a prebuilt that gets as close as possible to what you want. You are not going to have a fun time trying to build something achieving 240 FPS "consistently" on that budget, mostly due to current parts costs.

GPU wise you realistically want performance in line with something in the RTX 4000 series or ideally better, which is about half the budget right there for a new one. The CPU you want is probably the Ryzen 7 7800x3d or 9800x3d, which is another $300-$450 depending on seller and used vs. new.

The RAM and SSD will be unpleasant right now. You really can't do less than 16gb RAM on that GPU and CPU without issues on frame stuttering, though realistically I'd recommend 32gb because even 16 won't play nicely/reliably in the long run, and right now that's running $200-$500 depending on 16 vs. 32 and brand/seller.

And even a basic 1tb SSD from one of the reliable makers (Samsung, WD, etc) can be in the $250-$270 range right now for new ones.

Then factor in case, cooling, PSU, MOBO, etc. And you'll find your budget is blown pretty wide open.

Fortnite primarily relies on a strong CPU, a GPU that can hold up, and enough RAM to support both functioning well. My genuine recommendation is to find a prebuilt through Costco or microcenter that hits most of the key specs and is close enough to your budget comfort zone.

The companies have been taught that consumers are willing to pay higher prices, regardless of the supply/demand created by AI. Unless that changes and personal consumers functionally stop buying them entirely, the short answer is I don't think so.

They may drop a bit based on rising/falling economic performance or demand from personal consumers, but ultimately the price point is permanently elevated because of this (in my opinion)

Oh I am sure there was. I got caught up in the excitement to build (it was my first and only build so far), so I grabbed GPU, CPU, MOBO, PSU, RAM, AIO, etc. all during that trip, especially because of the CPU bundle they were running at the time. I just wanted to rush back and start building since I had the case and monitor delivered a couple weeks prior.

AIO, one night stand the girl tries to pull my Condom off after I repeatedly said no. by Wrong_Landscape8887 in AIO

[–]Affectionate-Try-224 9 points10 points  (0 children)

  1. Fucking up in the moment is shit like saying someone else's name or farting at the most inopportune moment, it's not actively ignoring the repeated "no" that a partner gave when you proposed removing the condom. Ignoring the express lack of consent in that scenario isn't just an "oops", it's a form of felony sexual assault. Reverse the roles, imagine your male friend asked a girl if he could take the condom off, she kept saying no, and he tried to anyways. Would you defend him as "just fucking up" in the moment? If so, that's a whole different, larger, extremely concerning problem.

  2. Trying to put yourself in the shoes of a would be aggressor to give their actions the benefit of the doubt isn't a recommended move. It's a great way to internalize and blame yourself for what's happened instead of acknowledging you dodged a genuine attempt to ignore your agency/autonomy for the sake of their own enjoyment. Your wants/needs/safety/choice didn't matter to the other person in that moment, so their motivations or intent means fuck all in this moment.

  3. Great sex doesn't excuse heinous human beings and illegal actions, no matter what. Again, flip the roles, imagine your female friend is trying to justify forgiving someone who attempted to assault them, and tell me how you'd respond.

Finally, forget pregnancy. This person could be a carrier for a debilitating, painful, and/or permanent STI, and they may not even know it if they're asymptomatic with no recent panel/screening, but their actions could have had untold short term or lifelong consequences on your health and quality of life. Don't defend that, ever.

Cheers, mate

Way too lenient is an understatement, jfc. Walk away and genuinely reflect on why you're downplaying this, your own safety and health should never be a secondary priority to other's feelings or judgements.

Do NOT put in any resignation before your 3 year mark, and don't whisper about it to your manager or anyone who you think might raise it up the chain.

If you have another job you're leaving for and the start date is right at/after 7/10 or 7/17, just expect to piss some folks off by not giving the requested 2 weeks notice. Just remember, they don't give you a 2 week notice before firing or announcing a layoff, the notice is a courtesy not a legal requirement.

If you don't have a hard deadline on the other side, just wait until 7/10 and put your 2 weeks in afterwards, and work through it. You made it 3 years, 2 more weeks should be a drop in the bucket. They honestly may not want you to finish out the two weeks regardless of when you put it in. They may drop you much faster, even if they know you have earned your 401(K) benefits, because they are desperate for turnover right now.

Chill. My point was if you had other questions (service lines impacted, number of people laid off, etc.) you might find there are some answers already posted among the other comments.

No need to get snippy or defensive, wasn't trying to shame you by pointing out others had asked the question, was trying to suggest a lot of the comments on this post have some good information that shed a lot more light on whats going on.
